This hotel was in a very convenient location for exploring all of San Francisco! Most of the city was accessible by walking or public transportation, and the Muni buses had stops for multiple different lines right outside the hotel entrance. The hotel is a few blocks from the main city centers, so the traffic noise was never overwhelming. The area seemed lively and safe during the day, but maybe not as much past dark. There was an exterior lock to the lobby, and that additional safety measure was greatly appreciated! The room itself was very small, but clean. No closet, but there was a full mirror and some drawer space. The bathroom had all the necessities and trash was emptied every day, with full room cleaning every other day. We were allowed to store our luggage in their closet on the day of checkout, and since our flight wasn’t until late evening, we could enjoy the city without paying for separate luggage storage. Overall, this hotel was in a convenient location, offered clean rooms, and the price was very affordable.

Boutique-style hotel in a historic and classically Edwardian structure tastefully applies a more irreverent, modernized Edwardian influence in the aesthetics, furnishings and decor of the immaculate interior, in both the common areas and in the cute, private, stylish little rooms, which come with private, ensuite, modern and fully functional baths of equal cleanliness.
Great for locals and couples as well as visitors, it's my most frequent. SF recommendation for stays of any frequency or length, year-round for most purposes and budgets.
The price and location can't easily be beaten, but it's also clean, safe, quiet, modern and private, but not stuffy or oppressive.
The staff, common areas and included amenities are minimal, but effective and not lacking any essentials unless you want an all-inclusive spa/resort/cruise experience or plan to spend more time in your hotel room than outside seeing San Francisco, which is incredibly easy, quick and convenient from this central location.
The Edwardian is centrally located on Market Street, the main artery of Muni, Bart and other SF public transit, and also the "Main Street" of San Francisco.
Classic views of Market Street available in the front-facing rooms if desired.
On the edge of downtown, easy walking distance to the theater district, cable cars, historic Civic Center Plaza and everything that encompasses and Union Square, home to world-class, luxury shopping, destination dining, live music, performances and other entertainment, activities and events.
Very close to all the action without the prices of the Hilton, Fairmont, Four Seasons, etc., and without being somewhere hectic, filthy or overly dangerous like the Tenderloin District ("TL") or 6th and Market areas nearby.
The very clean hotel linens, toiletries and minimal included amenities (free Wi-Fi, hot tea/coffee 24/7 in the lobby, etc.) are good quality, but only sufficient quantity.
The site lacks a pool, spa, shop, gym, outdoor area, or even vending machine to the best of my knowledge.I believe most, if not all the rooms are non-smoking and no on site dining, laundry or parking is available either.
You won't miss it.
They include what you need to be very comfortable, safe, well rested, clean and happy in a private, quiet, modern and romantic environment, without feeling stuffy, corporate, oppressive or uncomfortable.
There are plenty of delivery, in-call, rideshare and other similar services available to bridge any gap between your room and what's available outside.
Immaculate and quintessentially San Francisco, this boutique hotel is a great, centrally located and extremely reasonably priced home base from which to experience our city on almost any budget with enough left over to eat while you're here and return home eventually as well! 🤣
You just might like it so much you don't want to leave here after all!
(Please go home anyway, the rents are already terrible!) 😉
