Really great exhibit, the missionaries made it fun and the audiovisual stuff was interesting. The hands-on activities at the end were also cool. Highly recommend.

We came here on our honeymoon 26 years ago, and it was really great, so when we found ourselves back in San Diego this weekend we were excited to stop by even though we were on our way to a wedding reception and only had a short time. The museum has been renovated since we were here and is very beautiful and historically accurate to the area and time period depicted. Admission is free and tours go throughout the day. Even if you're not interested in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the history depicted in the museum is very interesting and related to the founding of San Diego. The sister missionaries gave us the short version of the tour and it was interesting and informative. They answered our questions and were heartfelt and earnest in speaking with us. We had a wonderful time and hope to come back to do a longer tour. I loved the new observation deck and I'm sure if you come with little guys they'd enjoy panning for gold. There's plenty of free parking a short walk away and there's a handicap accessible entrance on the side street. On a practical side note, the bathrooms are the cleanest and nicest in San Diego and there's a nursing room and large, clean handicap accessible bathroom. Also, if you're walking around the area, keep a lookout for the lovely artwork the Sister missionaries have painted on utility boxes etc all around.
