Just finished up almost a week here. This was a very nice place to stay, especially for the price. They had a great breakfast offering (do try the cinnamon rolls) and the hotel has a small convenience store in the lobby (not some shelf with a few packs of chips like others). The heated pool as very nice (until we got out) and using Dove products for the sink and shower was a special bonus.
My only negative points were: 1) There were 4 of us so we had to ask for an extra pillow for the sofa bed. No problem except it never came. Asked first in person and they said they would send it. Then called about an hour later and asked again. They just said “okay”. We just made do without it for that night but it was disappointing. 2) The parking situation is interesting. There is a parking garage but it is full of compact car and electric car parking. Then there are poles everywhere next to spaces. It made parking an SUV pretty difficult and the clearance is also only 6’8” for vehicles.
I would stay here again.

“Nick was an excellent driver — very polite, prompt, and professional. He made the ride feel comfortable and stress-free, and I really appreciated how kind and respectful he was throughout the trip. Everything went smoothly and right on time. Highly recommend!”
“Eli was very kind and welcoming during check-in. He was patient, professional, and made everything easy after a long day of traveling. You can tell he handles a lot, and I really appreciated how calm and friendly he was despite how stressful hotel work can probably get at times. Thank you for the great service!”

The complementary shuttle is EVERYTHING! I called from the airport and spoke with Mark (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) who helped me find the shuttle pickup point and was promptly picked up along with other guests. The driver was friendly and had great advice on how to get around the city, which sights to see, and where to find the best Mexican-style seafood. I didn’t catch his name but I am grateful for him. (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Check-in was a breeze. Mark was friendly and kind as he explained all of the available amenities, provided directions, and checked me in. I was offered an upgrade based on my status, but declined this time (short, solo trip).
The complementary breakfast is one reason that Holiday Inns are my go-to. The breakfast offerings vary but there are always pastries, dry cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs, and juice. The breakfast area was neat and tidy.
Nick (⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️) was especially patient and forgiving when I ended up in the wrong spot for pick up. I felt awful after speaking to the front desk for a third time requesting directions. Once Nick arrived, or rather I arrived to him, he turned my day around. I have been able to travel around San Diego and to Tijuana using only the Trolley and complementary shuttle.
My room was already cleaned and refreshed upon my return in the early afternoon. The bed is comfortable, the room is cozy, and there isn’t near as much road/airport noise as I expected.
More to come upon checkout!

We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express San Diego – Old Town. From start to finish, the service was kind, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and had a bright, uplifting atmosphere.
Kylene went above and beyond helping us navigate a tricky situation with my hospital discharge time not lining up with check-in. She was incredibly accommodating, supportive, and easy to work with.
Art was outstanding. When I accidentally locked my key in the room, he quickly helped verify my identity and got me a new one without hassle. He saved the day again when he stepped in to help us weigh a heavy bag that we couldn’t lift, and did it with a great attitude.
Nick drove us to the airport in the (very cool) Cybertruck—he was enthusiastic, friendly, funny, and made the whole experience easy by explaining exactly how curbside bag check works and where to go once inside the airport. That level of service makes a difference, especially when you’re traveling somewhere unfamiliar.
We also stayed the night before surgery, and the gentleman who checked us in was equally friendly and welcoming, with a great sense of humor and great local food recommendations.
Housekeeping deserves recognition too—fast, kind, and attentive. One staff member even ran outside to return my expensive water bottle after I accidentally left it behind. That kind of honesty and effort is rare.
Overall, this hotel runs the way you would expect a great hotel to run: clean, efficient, and staffed by people who care and take pride in their work. We’d absolutely stay here again.
Thank you all for a wonderful stay!

My wife Dusty and I spent two nights at this Holiday Inn Express and were extremely pleased, especially with the customer service provided. Each and every staff member we encountered was genuinely friendly, efficient and professional. It was evident that the staff bought into the philosophy to go out of their way to make the client happy. Nick and Art in particular treated us like we were long time friends. Their sense of humor was much appreciated. We did not rent a car for the first two days of our trip and we were driven from the airport to the hotel, to Old Town and back several times and to the rental car center when we checked out. Talk about convenient! The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, the climate control worked, the owner went to great lengths to upgrade the windows and modified the air conditioning system in order to minimize the street noise from the highway adjacent to the hotel. Breakfast was better than expected and the exercise room had equipment that I was not expecting. Thanks for making out San Diego vacation so memorable. Paul and Dusty.
