We had a wonderful stay! The room we were initially given wasn’t the best fit for me and my kids, but Gabby at the front desk was absolutely amazing. She helped us find a better room with no hassle at all and had such a kind, helpful attitude throughout the whole process.
After we got settled into our new room, Gabby even followed up with us to make sure everything was more to our liking—and it definitely was! Her attention to detail and genuine care really stood out and made our stay that much better.
Thank you, Gabby, for going above and beyond and making sure my family was comfortable. Excellent customer service! We truly appreciate you and would definitely stay here again. ❤️

HIGHLIGHTS👀
Melissa was outstanding with her customer service.
i had read the reviews but needed to see rooms for myself. Standard King room was lovely and the Premium Floor King was the win.
Beautiful campus. Well maintained- feels like a Hawaiian hotel Elevator wondows need to be cleaned and the breakfast is a $22 price tag (👎🏾) for continental breakfast. You DO have to pay for parking (i was surprised by this).
Near Trader Joe's, Marshalls and freeway
All in all a good experience

We have been staying at this hotel for about three weeks, and during our stay, my children and I have been coming to the restaurant for breakfast regularly. I especially want to mention Daniel, because he has been wonderful to us.
My little kids have school in the morning, so we have a limited amount of time to eat breakfast before their driver arrives. Daniel understands this and always makes sure we are taken care of quickly without ever making us feel rushed. That has honestly made our mornings so much easier.
He is always friendly, welcoming, social, attentive, and very pleasant. He remembers us, greets us warmly, and makes my children feel comfortable. After seeing him almost every morning for the past three weeks, we really appreciate the kindness and excellent service he consistently gives us.
Thank you, Daniel, for making our breakfast mornings easier and more enjoyable. My kids and I truly appreciate you! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I would absolutely NOT recommend the Crowne Plaza San Diego - Mission Valley. This was easily one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had, especially considering the Crowne Plaza and IHG name. The entire property and the rooms feel old, neglected, dirty, and desperately in need of renovation.
The room itself was extremely disappointing. The mattress was so soft and worn out that it felt like it was caving in when you laid on it. Instead of feeling comfortable and supportive, it felt like an old mattress that should have been replaced a long time ago. The pillows weren’t any better. They looked stained, felt worn, and weren’t soft or comfortable. When you’re paying to stay at a hotel, having a clean and comfortable bed should be one of the absolute basics.
The bathroom was another major disappointment. It was dirty, poorly maintained, and simply did not feel well kept. A hotel bathroom should feel clean and sanitary when you walk into it, and this one did not. The fixtures and overall condition added to the feeling that the room has not been properly maintained or updated. On top of that, the water pressure was terrible. Even something as basic as taking a comfortable shower became frustrating.
The overall cleanliness and condition of the room were unacceptable. Everything looked dated and poorly maintained. The room didn’t have the clean, fresh feeling you expect when checking into a hotel. Instead, it felt like the property has been neglected for years and they’re simply continuing to rent out rooms without putting enough effort into maintaining or updating them.
Even the lighting was terrible. The room was extremely dim, and the lights weren’t bright enough to comfortably illuminate the room. It made an already old and dingy room feel even darker and more depressing.
The air conditioning was another major problem. The AC did not cool the room properly. A hotel room should be a place where you can come back, cool down, relax, and sleep comfortably. Between the weak AC, uncomfortable mattress, worn and stained-looking pillows, poor lighting, dirty bathroom, bad water pressure, and overall condition of the room, it was difficult to feel comfortable at all.
What made the experience even worse was the lack of customer service from management. I specifically tried to contact the manager, Michael, regarding my concerns. He was nowhere to be found and apparently impossible to get ahold of. I left TWO separate messages and never received a return call. Not even a courtesy call acknowledging the complaint. That tells me a lot about how seriously guest concerns are taken at this property.
Problems can happen at any hotel, but how management responds is what separates a good hotel from a bad one. When a guest takes the time to contact management multiple times and the manager can’t even return a phone call, it makes an already bad experience significantly worse.
For a hotel carrying the Crowne Plaza and IHG name, I expected a much higher standard. This property did not come anywhere close to meeting those expectations. The rooms need serious updating, the mattresses and pillows need replacing, the bathrooms need much better cleaning and maintenance, the water pressure needs improvement, the lighting needs to be brighter, the air conditioning needs to actually cool the rooms, and management needs to be available and responsive when guests have legitimate concerns.
The entire experience left us feeling like this property is being allowed to deteriorate while guests continue paying prices that simply aren’t justified by the condition of the hotel.
Save yourself the frustration. There are far better hotel options in San Diego. Based on my experience, I would NOT stay at the Crowne Plaza San Diego - Mission Valley again, and I definitely would not recommend it to friends or family.

⭐ 1/5 — Unacceptable Customer Service and Management Conduct
After flying from Dallas, Texas, we arrived at the Crowne Plaza San Diego Mission Valley exhausted and ready to rest. During check-in, the front desk representative refused to accept my credit card because it bears my maiden name. I explained that I continue to use my maiden name professionally and that it is also part of my law firm’s name. Rather than offering a reasonable way to verify my identity or resolve the matter, the situation was unnecessarily escalated.
Even worse, the hotel manager, Glen, threatened to cancel our reservation—even though it had already been paid for. Being threatened with losing our accommodations after traveling from another state was humiliating, intimidating, and completely unacceptable.
I am an IHG Platinum Elite member and have used these same credit cards at numerous IHG properties without ever experiencing this kind of treatment. As an attorney, I understand the importance of security and card-verification policies. However, policies should be clearly explained, consistently enforced, and handled professionally. A hotel manager should help resolve problems—not threaten and intimidate paying guests.
This was one of the worst customer-service experiences I have ever encountered at an IHG property. I am not interested in receiving points or a generic apology. IHG needs to investigate this incident and address the conduct of management. Guests deserve professionalism, dignity, and respect—none of which we received here.
I cannot recommend this property until its leadership and customer-service practices are seriously addressed.
