  Me and my family recently stayed at this hotel. After checking in, the elevator smelled of pee. Upon entry into the room and getting ready for bed, my wife noticed a bed bug. I went to the front desk to request alternatives and was initially asked if he wanted me to spray. My response was you want me and my kids to lay in beds that have pesticide on it? He then stated he won't charge me for parking. I replied what did that have to do with the bed bugs in my room. After he replied that's all I can do, I requested my money back and asked for a refund. Once applied I left. Highly not recommended.

  Elevator smells like feet, upper lobby smells, like what, I don't know. The room appeared nice until I pulled the blanket/sheets down and found a bug. We went to the front desk immediately and were told they could come spray. Uhm. We have children, what are you going to spray? The bed?? So then the front desk person offered to comp our parking. I'm sorry, we're leaving, this is crazy. Smells, has bed bugs and probably isn't clean. Do not stay here.

  Candlewood Suites San Diego was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We paid almost $400 per night, expecting a clean and comfortable room. Instead, we found ants everywhere—even crawling on the bed. It was absolutely disgusting. No one should have to sleep in a room with a pest problem like this. We booked 3 nights, but after seeing the ants, we packed our bags and left immediately. We asked for a refund for the remaining 2 nights because the room was clearly not fit to stay in, but the hotel refused. Since we booked through Expedia, getting a refund turned into a nightmare. The hotel refused to refund us, and we ended up paying for two nights we never stayed because of the hotel’s pest problem. Save your money and stay somewhere else. Candlewood Suites San Diego needs to fix its pest problem. This experience was unacceptable, and I will never stay here again.

  Greetings: No one informed me that upon reaching the second level there would be a strong smell of dog urine. Additionally, the bathtub in the bathroom was in very poor condition—dirty and clogged—to the point that we almost had to shower wearing sandals. The elevator had its own issues, which further affected the overall experience. For these reasons, I am giving a one-star rating.
