I had a wonderful stay at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. The location is excellent, with many major tourist attractions nearby, and the Metro station is just across the street, making it incredibly easy to get to Universal Studios. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was fantastic, and the staff were friendly and always willing to help. A special shout-out to Jerrod P, Gerardo, and another tall Black gentleman in the valet team (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name). They made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, helped us find our tour van, and went above and beyond to assist us. A big thank you to all of the concierge team as well. Every time we walked through the lobby, they were warm, welcoming, and especially kind to my son, keeping him entertained with jokes and making him smile. Those little interactions really made our stay extra special. The rooms were clean, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and overall we had a fantastic experience. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Los Angeles!

Unacceptable Check-in Experience & Unprofessional Front Desk Staff While the resort property itself—especially the pool and overall environment—is beautiful, the attitude of your front desk staff was completely unacceptable and deeply ruined our arrival experience. Specifically, I was checked in by a Black gentleman stationed at the far-left desk whose name includes "Mur". From the moment I approached the desk, his demeanor was hostile, rude, and entirely unprofessional. Rather than welcoming us, he immediately made me feel second-class simply because I booked my stay using points. He explicitly emphasized my award booking, treating me as if using points meant I was "not a real guest" deserving of standard hospitality or a welcome amenity. When he brushed me off, I mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday, and only then did he reluctantly and begrudgingly start going through the motions. To make matters worse, he rudely scolded me for checking in "too late," as if arriving later in the evening somehow justifies a total lack of basic manners and hospitality. Having a front desk agent treat guests with such condescension—especially on a personal celebration like a birthday—is unacceptable for a property of this caliber. Points are earned through customer loyalty, and loyalty should not be rewarded with disrespect. I hope management addresses this behavior with the staff member in question directly. A beautiful pool and environment mean very little when the front door of the hotel greets guests with insolence and hostility.

We have been staying at the Intercontinental DTLA since their inaugural year. It has always been exceptional from the rooms, the views, the restaurants, the bars, location is prime - all exceptional. Today was the first time we have purchased a reserved day pass for the pool only. We were concerned with an 11 AM arrival that we may be out of luck with our observed seats, but upon arrival we were introduced to our bartenders for the day, Terrell, Blair and Andrew. Upon a very warm welcome, Terrell escorted us to our reserved lounge chairs which were in a prime location with towels, side tables and umbrella. He gave us a quick lay of the land and our staycation began. We kicked off our visit with cocktails, a slush fund and spicy margarita- Followed shortly thereafter with blackened Baja fish, tacos, and shortly after that, the most amazing french fries! Food and drink were fantastic. With the music playing in the background, a sky filled with sunshine, Terrell, Blair and Andrew checking in often… It was a perfect way to spend our Saturday! We are looking forward to visiting again in the near future. Thank you for an awesome day! 5 stars all the way ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The hotel itself is stunning. The architecture is beautiful, the views are incredible, and the location is excellent. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We arrived before check-in, checked our bags, and were told we’d receive a text when our room was ready. We spent the afternoon exploring the city, only to return well after check-in time and learn our room still wasn’t available. We had paid extra for a premium view room, but instead were offered a standard king room with two rollaway beds for our family of four. After more waiting, we were given drink vouchers that initially couldn’t even be redeemed because we didn’t have a room number. Even after that was sorted out, the vouchers didn’t cover the cost of the drinks on the menu. Eventually, because we needed to change for evening plans, we were offered a room on the club level and told it was an equivalent replacement. It wasn’t. The room was noticeably smaller with a less impressive view, and when we tried to use the club lounge, we were turned away because we’d only been assigned a room on that floor—not club access. That was incredibly frustrating. The delays caused us to miss the first pitch and pregame festivities at the Dodgers game we had planned our evening around. We asked if the lower-tier room could simply be discounted, but were told that wasn’t possible because we booked through Expedia. Ironically, while we were at the game, we received a message that the premium room we originally booked was finally ready. The hotel waived the facility fees, which we appreciated, but it didn’t make up for spending most of our first evening waiting, negotiating, and moving rooms. At 10:30 p.m., after returning from the game, we had to repack our belongings, pick up new keys, and move into the room we should have received from the beginning. That room was beautiful, spacious, and clearly superior to the “equivalent” room we had been offered. Overall, it felt like a bait-and-switch. We paid for a premium experience but spent much of our stay trying to receive what we’d already booked. If the hotel can’t reliably honor reservations made through Expedia or other travel partners, they shouldn’t make those room types available for booking.
