- JPJeff & Shaney Pratt2 days ago5.0Although I was thankful to have AC, the portable unit required the window/shutters to be open. Other than that, everything was clean, nicely appointed and the location was perfect for walking to beach, shopping and restaurants. Staff was very attentive when called upon. We will definitely stay here again.
- SMSteve M5 days ago1.0My two room reservations were cancelled while we were on the flight to San Diego despite the fact that I confirmed our reservations that same morning. Finding hotel rooms at midnight on a Friday in La Jolla after hours of flight delays with an infant is infuriating, but it gets worse. The night "manager" claimed to have found one of my rooms, then sent my mother and mother-in-law to an already occupied room in the middle of the night. The Empress had been my go-to for work travel, but I will never stay there again despite the location.

Run down hotel which might have been nice a few years ago but manager is clearly lacking renovations and necessary upgrades. The front desk was nice and understanding but the manager later did not want to provide full refund

Our Airbnb was horrible so we booked last minute at Empress and everything was wonderful- the breakfast, the rooms, the service, the location. I definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a clean, affordable, friendly, place to stay in La Jolla.
- COCes OsmanAug 5, 20265.0Awesome hotel, close to everything you need. Slightly dated rooms but extremely clean and well kept! The included breakfast was perfect for starting the day. Also, the staff was very polite and friendly. I would 100% stay here again!
