We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Hawthorne for one night as I needed to be poised to go into Los Angeles early the next morning.
From check-in to the complimentary breakfast in a clean dining space, the service was excellent. All staff were helpful, kind, and professional.
My son used the hot tub, that was not necessarily hot (he also said the jets were not working) but it was warm and relaxing and clean.
The room was sizeable with a great TV, wifi, and bathroom.
Beds were very comfortable and my husband said he had the best night's sleep in a week! I am giving 4 stars because of a slight smell to the hallways and room, but this may be due to our specific room.
Last night, we took a walk down Hawthorne Ave and side streets for about a mile and a half and the neighborhoods felt normal for being so near to a freeway and part of a big city. There was some trash on the sidewalk, but the walk was generally pleasant and I felt safe walking alone later when I went to pick up food.
This is an excellent choice if tou need to be close to downtown or LAX but want to also be able to go on a walk.
There is a gated parking garage that appears to be shared by the hotels that are clustered here on the same block and it was convenient. Cost was $15.
We would stay here again.

My family and I recently stayed at this location last week starting (8/4/26). At a glance, the location of this hotel is acceptable, not the best area, but doable. My main reason for writing this review is too alert everyone who stays at a hotel, anywhere, of how important it is to check your bed(s) really good and to always travel with Lysol. Upon checking into the hotel and going to my room and getting settled in, I started making my rounds, and checking our room, and with me doing so, I saw actual brown bugs in our bed. I went to the front desk to advise the front desk gentleman, and told him what I found, and I also asked him to come to my room and take a look for himself. While I was doing so, my husband had retrieved a couple of the bugs on a napkin to show the gentleman, to show as proof, which the gentleman wanted no part in keeping as proof. This was our first time in California, and had I been familiar with the area, we would have grabbed our bags and found some where else to stay. The gentleman was nice about the situation, however, the only thing he offered us was to change rooms. Even though we changed rooms, every time that we were ready to get into the bed, we'd look throughout the bed thoroughly for "Anything" that wasn't supposed to be there! Other than the bugs, the rooms had decent amenities, in which there was a small microwave and a mini refrigerator in the rooms. The complimentary breakfast was decent as well, however, there is a self-parking fee of $15 a night to pay, if you have a vehicle to park. There is a gated garage, parking area, which was also nice to have. Overall, the staff was friendly (The gentleman at the front desk was nicer than the young lady at the front desk) and house keeping was very friendly. The hotel is conveniently located close to LAX Airport, which is a plus, and there are a good amount of restaurants surrounding this location, within walking distance, in the event that you wanted to go grab a bite to eat. My reason for the low 1 star for the rooms is definitely because of the bugs in the bed. My experience and rating would have been much better, if not for that.

If you have children, this location is not for you.
I had booked a stay for 4 nights, I have two small children, which were on the reservation.
August 4th, Tuesday night, the power to the whole hotel went off at approximately 9:45 PM. My husband went down to the lobby to see what was going on and he asked if we would be comped for that night and the manager said the most was 50%. He stated that it was inconvenient for our two children since the power is out he asked for corporates number for a solution and the manager ((was not specific but stated she was wearing patches on her face (pimple patches)), she stood there and chuckled with her hotel staff that the internet was down because the power was out. We booked through booking.com and they could not relocate us and that the manger was not willing to comp the night for the stay.
My baby’s milk in the fridge went bad, the room was hot and stuffy for the night even with the little crack of the window, PG&E was fixing the power, so the loud sound of that was echoing through the room. I have videos of the emergency lights on throughout the floor, video of trying to turn the lights on and off (just proof of the power being out)
You stay at a hotel for its amenities, A/C, Power, and whatnot, something we did not receive for that night.
After going back and forth with the property, they denied 50% comp for that night, and was giving up to 40% comp for that night for people, I was not one of those people. Booking.com actually refunded me 50% comp for that night.
After hearing that hotel staff rushed people out the elevator on the 2nd floor and those people had to use the stairs for two more floors with all their luggage, and hotel staff stood in front of the elevator doors, but also claimed they did not know the power was going to go out.
They have free breakfast though.
The girl at the front desk is not as friendly as I would expect for a branded hotel. Room is clean, although the water pressure is a bit miserable.
The area is a bit sketchy, there are probably better choices within the range.
