We had a wonderful stay at the University Hotel in Dixon, and I cannot say enough about the staff we encountered. Santiago and Luciano were both immensely helpful, and Kathleen Elizabeth was exceptional in her professionalism, understanding, and assistance. We had a terrible experience at a hotel in another city last year, and I was concerned about a repeat situation before I booked the University Hotel. I spoke with Santiago first, and Luciano the next day and they were both great in how they responded to my questions and concerns. I also spoke with Kathleen a few times and she was exceptional: the best encounter I have ever experienced with hotel personnel. She provided thoughtful feedback, information and reassurance, and we had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The room was clean, quiet, and very affordable, and we will definitely reserve a room here in the future if travel warrants. Thank you and kudos!

Horrible hotel. They are not Holiday Inn or Davis. It is located in Dixon and they are working towards their Holiday Inn certification meanwhile it is IHG only but it is not anything like IHG hotels. I have been staying here for almost a week and they are under construction while having people in, making lots of noise. I have talked to the manager to ask them stop for few hours so I can catch up on my sleep and I was promised to have few quiet hours but nothing happened. The walls have zero insulation and you can hear literally every word behind your wall. I had people having sex behind my wall till 1:30 in the morning and could not get any sleep. I stayed in many hotels, I am a platinum Elite member with IHG hotels and this is probably the worst hotel out of all IHG hotels. Right now it is very run down. It will probably get better after renovation. They spray a lot of Febreze in those rooms and I am a scent sensitive. I had to chose between 5 rooms to find a tolerable one and spent 1.5 hours wiping down all surfaces with water to be able to stay here and had the windows open to air it out. While I was looking for a tolerable room, I have seen one room smelling like black mold. Buyer be aware. Despite me calling them ahead and asking for a scent free room, they gave me a room sprayed with febreeze. This hotel should be called Motel Dixon and does not belong to IHG hotels or had Davis name to it because do not be fooled, it has nothing to do with Davis at all, it is just a marketing ploy. Look on the map, it is located in Dixon and not in a good area. Stay at your own risk.

Not as great as the pictures, wornout, banged up hallways with wallpaper missing, dings, dents, scuff maks and tears in the carpet and walls. Noisy nights with doors slamming hard up and down the hallway. Morning breakfast not quiet either with desk agents right there next to the tables loudly debating and arguing about internal procedures during 6:15am shift change. A hotel stay should be comfortable and relaxing, this was anything but. Don't even get me started on grooming, "male" check-in agent had long 1 inch nails that were very dirty. Overall a very strange property that seemed good when looking online. Forgot to mention that my only free afternoon, I wanted to spend in my room catching up on emails and online errands, I was enjoying the quiet when the front desk called to advise me that maintenance would be having to come into my room to change out the TV's cable box and that they did not know exactly when but that it could not wait until the next day when I was checking out. Maintenance came 2 hours later and was in/out several times before leaving me alone. The whole experience at this hotel was problematic instead of a no-hassle relaxing uncomplicated stay.

This is an outstanding hotel. It's a simple hotel with extremely clean rooms and comfortable furniture. Price is about the best in the area, super convenient to interstate 80, and only 10 minutes or so from Central Davis. Staff could not be more friendly. Fresh baked cookies in the lobby.
