  Despite being overpriced, this hotel is going to get a rare five-star review. To start with, they had free parking Plus electric vehicle parking for $10. In other words, you pay $10 and you get unlimited EV charging throughout your stay. The hotel was in a very nice area within 15 minutes drive of downtown Santa barbara, where I was working. The room was large and comfortable. I absolutely hate Dove bath products, and I wish Holiday Inn with sever their ties with dove, but I won't mark them down because I brought my own shower gel. The front desk staff were friendly and the service was fast. All in all a great spot for a two-night business trip.

  If you are ever going to Santa Barbara, CA, I recommend you drive the extra few minutes and stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Carpinteria. Not only is it a cute place and the back area by the pool looks like Hawaii, but you will get to meet Donnoven, the lead at the front desk. He will make you feel like you're his long lost relative and take such good care of you! He did that from the very first time I called them to set up my reservation, weeks before we went there. It's been some weeks since we were there and I called him to get the spelling of his name right for this review, I started the conversation by telling him thank you for a nice thing he had done for me. I had not told him who it was calling, and he asked, after I told him thank you, how are you, Bill? After all this time he had remembered my name! That's the kind of person he is! So not only is the place beautiful but it's worth it just to stay there to meet him! Then besides Donnoven, everyone else there is extremely nice as well. The people cleaning the rooms would greet us with smiles and say, Hi how are you, as we were walking down the hallways each day. The breakfasts each day were amazing and the people cooking and serving the breakfast there would give you big smiles and tell you thank you for coming! The rooms were clean and everyone there goes overboard to take care of you. There is such a peaceful and friendly vibe there that it makes you want to go back over and over again! I can highly recommend staying there if you are going to be anywhere near this area! We totally enjoyed our time there! Please say Hi to Donnoven for me when you go! He is AWESOME!!   Overall a great hotel but I think the cleaning can be improved, especially the bathroom towel and the sofa. Great service, convenient parking and breakfast included.

  I got to this hotel around 7 after traveling all day. I just wanted to take a shower and lay in bed. After i pulled off the sheets on the couch bed to rest, i saw a red stain. Most likely a blood stain. It was disgusting. Luckily, we called the front desk and they moved us to a new room. Service was overall pretty good but i would never stay here again.

  Have been coming here for years. I love the landscaping, the free coffee at all hours, the warm saltwater pool, the spa/jacuzzi, the lending library, the quirky mini gift-shop, and the location (proximity to beach, town and coastal trails). The rooms are what you expect from a 3-star hotel, nothing too fancy but comfy. Improvements I'd suggest: key card entry for side doors at night; more lighting in the front end of the parking lot, and upgraded flat screens with Netflix/other app screen casting to replace old school cable tv.
