We recently stayed two nights at the Holiday Inn Carlsbad while following our granddaughter and her soccer team. The team was staying at the connected Staybridge Suites, which was full, so we called the Holiday Inn. That turned out to be a great decision.
Todd took our reservation and went above and beyond. He found us a room, honored my corporate rate, put us on the top floor near the elevator, and assured me everything would be taken care of. He delivered.
The Holiday Inn was immaculate. Clean floors, spotless bathrooms, comfortable beds, well maintained furniture, and everything working exactly as it should. Honestly, you would have thought you were staying at a four star or four and a half star property.
The Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites are sister IHG properties connected by a courtyard, which made the contrast between the two impossible to miss. The Staybridge fell short during our visit. There was no ice, the elevator was out of order, the common areas were extremely hot and humid, and there were significant complaints from guests, particularly those having to use the stairs.
Our Holiday Inn experience was just the opposite. Clean, cool, comfortable, organized, and well managed. The breakfast was excellent for a hotel buffet, with a beautiful patio setting, plenty of food, great fruit, and attentive service.
Caussi was extremely helpful when we first called, and Brittany was another staff member who seemed to work between both properties and was consistently helpful.
Daniel also deserves an honorable mention. He handled our checkout with the same professionalism and genuine customer service Todd showed us at check in. Friendly, attentive, and always with a smile.
Two sister hotels, connected by one courtyard, yet two completely different experiences. The Holiday Inn was stellar.
Five stars. We would absolutely stay here again.
