  For someone who travels a good amount, I picked this place for the nice location just 1.5 blocks the beach and close to the local Carlsbad Village where I've spent most of my summers growing up. That said, I was so disappointed in the hotel itself for the following reasons: 1. Required a $25 early check in/check out fee, even for 30 minutes early and the room "not being ready yet." That didn't quite make sense to me.. if I paid to check in early, but the room wasn't ready, would it magically be ready then? 2. The bedroom window wouldn't lock. 3. ANTS! My gosh the ants. I booked the suite with two double beds for 3 nights, and we had a horrible ant problem between the beds. I requested help, and the next day someone (in a hurry) came with a can of bug spray. I asked if it was safe for us to stay in the room when it was sprayed as my two children were with me, and he looked at the can and said "I don't know, I've done it before? I have to hurry and get back I'm the only one here." And proceeded to spray. I asked for someone to vacuum any ants remaining and he said it'd be the following day. The ant problem remained. 4. Breakfast was bland and not as advertised. 5. The shower was ungodly slippery. Use a towel on the floor if you don't want to risk cracking your head open. 6. The AC unit was insanely loud every time it turned on, and it had to be on because it was so musty/humid inside these rooms. We all woke up drenched in a sweat each night. Not the California trips we remembered. 7. The lights shining through the sheer curtains are so bright, even during the night, so be prepared for that. 8. Towels were fine but felt new and not washed before use. They left white fuzz all over the body after showering as if they were brand new. 9. Rooms and beds were much smaller than they were presented online.

  Dirty, moldy, and run down rooms. Breakfast area was nice. Pool just ok. They changed us rooms but still similar conditions. People also have somewhat permanent residence at this hotel which makes it a bit odd.

  Matthew went above and beyond to make our stay great. He helped us get a quiet room, which was much appreciated. After we accidentally forgot some items in the room, Matthew personally took them to UPS to ship them back to us. Thank you, Matthew!!

  Gave me a dirty smelly room first that I couldn’t even describe the smell it was so bad, then was given a room that was again unclean, has mold, no hot water and the door hits the bed. I go down to make my obvious complaints and I was told they knew about a plumbing problem but won’t get anyone to fix it so I could have hot water. I mean, come on! You spend money to stay at a hotel and this is more like a hostel! Stay away!!!

  I picked this spot because I was trying to be affordable and this hotel is close to Lego land and the beach but you get what you pay for : rooms are small and feel cheap and old … I’d say the staff is nice and all but the hotel itself don’t expect much but a place to sleep and get ready, if you’re on vacation and not planning to spend much time in the rooms it’s fine but overall Next time I’ll probably do air bnb or a resort 😩
