I stayed at this hotel for almost 2 weeks and it got worse as each day went by. On one particular day, I left at 6:45am and locked my hotel room, only to return at 4pm to find my door open and unlocked. Anyone passing by, any person off the street, or any staff member could have entered my room and stolen my valulables. I had over $2000 in valuables in addition to personal documents such as my passport and social security card sitting on the desk.
When I immediately informed the front desk staff, she seemed even more shocked than I was. I asked her to review the footage and let me know if someone had broken into my room, or if housekeeping forgot to close my door, or something else.
A few hours later, she let me know that she spoke to the Manager/Owner/Franchisee who checked the footage and confirmed to her that no one entered my room except housekeeping. When I asked for the phone number to the Manager/Owner/Franchisee to speak to him directly, she texted him and he declined to provide his phone number and said that if I want to talk to him, I have to wait until tomorrow morning.
At this point, I was livid because the Manager/Owner/Franchisee refused to even talk to me on the phone and refused to show me the footage so I can confirm with my own eyes that no one else entered my room. I threatened to call 911 to report a possible burgarly, at which point the worker went to the back to call the owner, and came back to hand me her phone for me to speak with him.
He was extremely rude, condescening, and plain disrespectful. He did not apologize once for the situaiton, and when I said that I need to see the footage to confirm, he refused again. I told him that I will call 911 to report this, at which point he dared me to do it, repeated multiple times "go ahead call the cops I don't care" and said I can ask the front desk to call the cops for me if I wanted. Just WOW. He was yelling and had no interest in anything I had to say.
I can go on but I think you get the point. The Manager/Owner/Franchisee is horrible and treats customers in a condescending, disrespectful way, and to reiterate, he did not apologize once for this situaiton.
Hotel is old, smells old, and you only get housekeeping if you ask every single day, something I have never experienced in other Best Westerns. The have a sign on the outside doors saying the doors are locked and require your card to enter, but that's never the case. Literally anyone off the street can walk in and do whatever if they wanted. Huge safety concern given the area isn't the safest.
Only hotel in town and it shows. Avoid at all costs.
