- MLMimi LeAug 23, 20264.0The Berkeley City Club is a gorgeous building, designed by Julia Morgan in 1929. The building is also a listed historical place so there is tremendous history. It has a gothic feel with vaulted ceilings, Corinthian columns and lots of stones, stairs and stained glass windows. Picture a monastery converted to a hotel. The meeting/event rooms are beautiful with fireplaces. I booked a double/queen room which is on the small side, no AC, nice sizeable bathroom with lovely tiles. I had breakfast and lunch in Julia, the breakfast is included and continental. Lunch in Julia offered a French California inspired menu. Quite good. It was busy during lunch as the BCC is opened to members and has ongoing events, etc.. The dining room staff were great, super helpful and nice. What was not so good: The rooms are a bit small, no work desk available. The room does not have AC so summertime can be unbearable. The wi fi is really bad. There is no water offered, no kettle or mini fridge either. For first time visits, the front door is a bit confusing as you have to push a button and speak to someone to get in.

Nicole, our account manager, was an outstanding guide throughout the entire process. She was present and available for site visits, walked us through what was and wasn't possible on site, and helped us make critical decisions about how the day would flow. Our catering lead, Ariel, was fantastic the entire night and made sure that our bride and groom, as well as all of their lovely guests were well fed, and had delicious drinks. As a UC Berkeley graduate, I have always loved Berkeley City Club. It stands out as a wedding venue because it is a naturally beautiful space where anyone can feel like their luxury and they have unique spaces for weddings of any size. This 46 person celebration fit perfectly into the central courtyard, replete with greenery that made the bride's dress shine, and the drawing room, which created an intimate, fun, flowing atmosphere. I highly recommend Berkeley City Club to anyone looking for a beautiful wedding venue that has unique spaces, great food, and outstanding staff.

What is the deposit?
The deposit is for the services provided prior to the event date and is due upon receipt of the signed
contract. The non-refundable deposit is the same cost as the room rental and will be applied to the final
amount of the event.
What does the event room rental include?
The event room rental includes the space for the time blocked, two (2) hours of additional set-up and
break-down time, standard tables, wooden folding chairs or gold Chiavari chairs, ivory linens, ivory
napkins, all dinner and glassware, and staff for set up and break down all these items for you.
Do you offer private or semi-private dining in your restaurant instead of booking an event room?
Julia’s Restaurant is a beautiful intimate restaurant on the second floor, and available for both members
and guests to enjoy. Parties of 6-8 are welcome to call Julia’s Restaurant to inquire about a large party
reservation. Parties of 9 or more will be required to book a private event room.
Do you allow outside catering?
No. All catering must be provided in-house, with the exception of cakes or specialty desserts from a
licensed and insured bakery. You may also provide your own wine and beer for a fee.
Are you able to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies?
Our menus already offer several food selections that accommodate various dietary needs. We do our best
to accommodate guests with additional dietary needs but cannot guarantee that all requests will be fulfilled.
Can my guests view other spaces on the property?
Event guests are welcome to briefly view any available public areas or unoccupied private event rooms.
However, loitering, food, beverages, and excessive noise are not allowed in any spaces not contracted for the
event. Children must be always accompanied by an adult to view any spaces not contracted for the event.
Where can guests smoke?
Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property, including outdoor courtyards. Guests must fully leave
the property and be a minimum of 25 feet away from any area around the Berkeley City Club building to
begin smoking. A designated smoking area is located at the far end of our parking lot.
Where can guests park?
We allow for one (1) parking space per event. Please ask your Sales and Catering Manager for a list of
local parking facilities where your guests may park. Guests who are staying at the hotel can park in the BCC
parking lot for a nightly fee. This is on a first come, first served basis and is not guaranteed.
