Hey it was a place to stay near to our friend who we were visiting. First come parking and noisy fellow travelers combined with that old worn out air conditioner led to a few restless nights.

I was traveling solo, but was given room 404 on the 2nd floor, with a patio, overlooking the pool. This room, while clean has obviously been well used. It is MASSIVE. Huge king rm, giant tv, 8 ft double vanity with a separate walk in shower & seated bench. there was a living room with 2 chairs, small table, huge tv, microwave, small fridge, bar sink, AND a large patio with plenty of room for the 2 chairs and table. The only negative was the couch looked tired and well used (I didn't sit on it). Breakfast was just "ok". I think the eggs are powdered, and the bacon appears to be the pre cooked type. They had plastic wrapped gluten free muffins, but they were very gummy,. so I stuck to bacon and peanut butter and yogurt. The front desk staff were very pleasant. Parking is free and well lit.

I have stayed at many hotels over the years, and I have to say that my experience at the Best Western Casa Grande was, by far, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The first night, I was awake for the majority of the night because the walls were incredibly thin. I could clearly hear people talking and walking in the hallway until around 3:00 a.m. It honestly felt more like I was staying at a cheap motel than a hotel at this price point. I should have called the front desk that night, but I was exhausted and simply wasn't thinking clearly. The following morning, I spoke with the manager, and she did offer to move me to a different room. I genuinely appreciated how she handled that particular situation, and thankfully, the second room was much quieter. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. After only two flushes, the toilet in the new room became completely clogged. I called the front desk to report the problem. A young man came to my room with a plunger. When I opened the door, he simply handed me the plunger. I must have looked confused because I have never experienced a hotel employee handing a guest a plunger and expecting them to fix the toilet themselves. His response was, “You called for a plunger, didn’t you?” He then walked away. I was absolutely appalled. I called the front desk again, understandably very upset, because I had just paid $841 to stay at this hotel and was now apparently expected to unclog my own toilet. To their credit, two gentlemen eventually came to the room and helped resolve the situation. They were professional, apologetic, and did a great job de-escalating what had become a very frustrating situation. I truly appreciated their professionalism. However, when I spoke with the manager the following morning about what had happened, I was extremely disappointed by her response. Rather than apologizing or acknowledging that handing a guest a plunger and walking away was inappropriate, she essentially blamed me for not asking for help “appropriately” and told me that providing guests with a plunger was pretty standard practice. I have stayed in countless hotels, and I have never been treated this way by hotel staff or a manager. Unfortunately, the problems didn't end there. The room also had significant issues with the electrical outlets. There were no updated USB ports or convenient outlets near the bedside, so charging a phone required plugging it into a wall outlet far enough away that the phone couldn't even sit on the nightstand. Even more concerning, many of the outlets appeared loose and would not properly hold a plug. My chargers repeatedly tipped and fell out of the outlets. Even the hotel's hair dryer would not stay securely plugged in, and I had to physically hold the plug in the outlet while drying my hair. There were a few positives, particularly the two gentlemen who helped with the plumbing issue and the manager's willingness to move me to a quieter room after the first night. Unfortunately, those positives were completely outweighed by the overall experience. Arroyo Grande is a lovely destination, but I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere when it comes to lodging. Don't be fooled by the photos. Based on my experience, I would not stay at this Best Western again, and unfortunately, this experience has made me hesitant to stay at a Best Western property in the future.
