I travel a lot and have stayed in hundreds of hotels, motels, hostels, Airbnbs, and B&Bs. We came from San Diego to AJ for my niece’s graduation and chose this hotel because of the great reviews and convenient location near the ceremony and our family.
The staff was friendly, but communication seemed inconsistent. I called the day before arrival to add my 21-year-old son to the reservation and was told there would be no extra charge since the room accommodated 3 people. When we checked in around 2am, another front desk clerk charged me anyway. I was exhausted and didn’t argue, but it was frustrating.
Housekeeping also tried entering our room twice..once at 6am our first morning there while we were asleep, and again after we had received late checkout approval. Thankfully, the swing lock was on both times.
No elevator which was fine. We were on the 2nd floor. You have to access the rm through this shady stairway. It looks like an emergency escape. You have to go through 3 doors to get to the 2nd floor..it was cool when we checked in at 2am but by day 1 we were all over it.
The biggest issue was the shower water pressure, which was extremely low. It was bad enough that we ended up showering at another family members hotel nearby. Normally I would’ve requested a room change, but my son had just been discharged 2 days prior from the hospital after an 18-day stay, so moving rooms with all of our luggage wasn’t practical.
On the positive side, the property was clean, quiet, and in a great location with plenty of nearby restaurants, shops, and gas stations. The pool was nice, parking was easy, and they even let me park near the lobby entrance.
We’ll be back in AJ next month. I’d consider staying here again if these issues are addressed, otherwise absolutely not.
