One of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had.
I feel obligated to warn others.
Reviews exist for a reason. They help us make informed decisions about where WE spend OUR hard-earned money. In my experience, this property did not demonstrate the level of cleanliness, accountability, or customer service that earns repeat business. I encourage anyone considering booking here to read recent reviews carefully, ESPECIALLY the lowest and recent ones. Ask to see the room before checking in if possible, if not LEAVE and trust your instincts. THESE TYPES OF FACILITIES are no longer owned or managed by people who care to make sure customers are happy. They are here to take your money and that’s it. Very unpleasant experience. More details below.
Also be mindful of some of the good reviews cross check them with the lower reviews because the statements are highly conflicting and could be the result of fake good reviews.
My first mistake was checking in before asking to see the room. I should have trusted my instincts.
When I arrived, the owner seemed friendly and spent time explaining that the hotel had been “remodeled” and was clean. Unfortunately, that did not match what I actually saw, smelled, or felt.
The first room was unacceptable. There were bugs in the toilet when I walked in, hair in the shower, the bathtub had large sections of the finish peeling off, there was a strange odor throughout the room, and it simply did not appear clean.
I requested another room.
The second room wasn’t much better. While I was told it had been remodeled, it was still in poor condition and did not meet even basic expectations of cleanliness.
I was rushing to get my daughter to her track meet, so against my better judgment I accepted the replacement room key and left immediately. Thankfully I did, because she almost missed her first event.
Here’s where my biggest frustration began: I never stayed in the room. I never unpacked. I never used the facilities. Yet because I had accepted the replacement key, I was charged for the night. They sighted something about their policy me accepting the key etc etc and their corporate office agreed. THEM PPL stuck together no matter what my claim was and that’s just not how WE in this country have ever done good business.
When I contacted customer service, they repeatedly referred to policy instead of addressing the fact that the condition of the hotel was the reason I couldn’t stay. I was also told that I had accepted the accommodations and was satisfied, which simply wasn’t true.
Another thing I noticed was children regularly playing on the stairways and around the main areas of the hotel. At first I assumed they were guests, but after seeing them throughout the property in places they probably shouldn’t be, it appeared they may have been related to management/owner. While that alone isn’t my only complaint, it added to the feeling that the property wasn’t being professionally operated.
The hotel itself felt more like a roadside truck stop than the quality I expect from an IHG property. It’s not particularly convenient to major amenities, and the overall upkeep was far below expectations.
What truly shocked me was learning this property reportedly received a 98% cleanliness score. Based on what I personally experienced, I have a hard time understanding how that rating was earned.
This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in both this property and the way my concerns were handled. It has caused me to remove IHG completely from my radar when traveling. Cleanliness, honesty, and customer service should matter, especially when a guest raises legitimate safety and sanitation concerns.
I would not stay here, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, and unfortunately, this experience has made me think twice before booking another IHG hotel.
