The Hotel Indigo Birmingham is located in a landmark Art Deco style building dating from the early 1930s in the city's historic Five Points South neighborhood. The hotel is situated in the booming and vibrant town of Birmingham near UAB. Hotel Indigo is set in the lively and roaring entertainment district of Birmingham, reminiscent of Bourbon street. Originally designed for medical offices and across from the first apothecary in Birmingham, the building became a hotel in the 1980s, but still retains its original medical insignia etched above the elevator doors. The hotel's design acknowledges the building's rich history, while incorporating modern amenities, like hardwood floors, spa inspired showers, luxury bath amenities and linens. We are also adding some exciting and tasty options to an area already known as one of the city's premier dining and entertainment districts. The Rx Lounge pays homage to the medical apothecary theme and provides prescriptions in the form of food and beverage.

Great location for walking distance to places to eat. My co-workers stayed a block down and had a much better experience. The staff is just rude. The parking is Valet and that’s if they are there and not out on break and if so you have to ask the staff for your vehicle. I don’t mind walking to get my car but a sign posted to let you know would be nice, as I was late for my meeting just waiting for the valet. You request on the app and it says they are retrieving but no one there. Don’t expect any adjustment either if they don’t show. The hotel just states they don’t work for them, but sorry, if they are sitting in your lobby, only parking for your hotel your connected.
The sound outside is out of their control but just be warned, it’s is very hard to sleep at night. The room temp can ONLY be controlled by the front desk, and it reverts back after just a few hours. I woke up every morning to a very warm room. I’ve stayed at MANY hotels and have NEVER seen this at any hotel.
I have no idea how they keep the Indigo brand but this isn’t your typical upper scale hotel, as a Holiday Inn Express would be more comfortable!

We will not be staying here again. The noise from the street is non stop and LOUD. Kept us up half the night. The bathroom had mold in the shower. It is close to UAB but we could have stayed closer for a comparable rate and a clean room. I will tolerate noise but not a dirty room. The staff was very kind so for that I give them a 5 star. Parking was basically good luck on the street or pay for valet which is $35/day. Overall not happy with my stay.

At the corner of Sketchy meets twilight zone. Had a check-in tonight . Valet was very polite. Desk agent was nice. Go to the room 78 degrees climate can not be controled from the room.back done to the desk to get to the second room which was an ice box. I then went down and checked out. Weird vibe - this property needs to figure out if it's a hotel or youth hostal. Either way not a good experience to have at 9 at night and then find another hotel

My recent stay at this hotel was unfortunately one of the poorest I’ve ever had. I was visiting BHam for the first time on a work trip. Of the 2 options I could book via work, I chose Indigo because they offered onsite parking. However, I should have done my due diligence in reading reviews prior to booking, had I done so, I likely would have gone with the other option despite the parking situation. My biggest issue with this place is that it is visibly run down and unclean. The elevators are old with peeling paint and sound like they are on their last leg every time they move. The first room I was placed in did not have a working telephone and the detachable shower head did not work. I was switched to another room (thankfully a pretty seamless process but only after I went down to the front desk hours after maintenance came to look at the phone and asked for an update). The new room had a working phone and fully functional shower but was missing the sink drain stopper and had a faulty white noise machine. The shower and sink in both rooms had visible mold which made my skin crawl every-time I used either. Additionally, this is perhaps the only property I’ve ever stayed at where I had to call into the front desk to adjust the room temperature vs having the ability to do so myself. Most nights the rooms were freezing and when I called to let them know, I barely felt any difference in the temp even hours later. The room I booked did not have a mini fridge or microwave, I don’t know if any rooms on the property do but be aware of this if you have anything that may need to be refrigerated or reheated. Another concern I had while staying here was the security. The parking deck is at the back of the property in an alley way, it is gated and you push the call box button to have someone (presumably at the front desk) open it. I did not have to register my car with the front desk and only once during my 5 days there did anyone on the intercom actually ask me to verify I was a guest at the hotel before opening the gate for me to drive in. There is a camera on the call box but given that staff changes regularly and you can come and go from the parking area without passing the lobby it felt like basically anyone could push the button and be let in whether or not they were actually staying on the property. As if that weren’t bad enough, the back door into the building from the lot that is supposedly kept locked 24 hrs and requires key card access was unlocked the entire time. The elevators do not require key card access and you end up bypassing the lobby through this entrance. So essentially, anyone could likely buzz their way into the parking area, walk into the building without a key card, get on the elevator and go to whatever floor they’d like. Also, the parking area smelled like literal hot garbage 24/7 because it is right next to the dumpster. I gagged several times simply walking to and from my car. Though I would not stay here again, I will say that one positive thing is that the location was very convenient for my needs. There are plenty of restaurant within walking distance and many of the big BHam attractions were 10-15 mins driving. Additionally, besides the last night it was pretty quiet during my entire stay (sans the creaky elevators). Most of the staff I interacted with were kind and accommodating and despite the obvious security flaws I did not have any worrisome encounters that made me feel like I was particularly in imminent danger. I didn’t eat at the on site restaurant so I can’t speak to the quality of the food but the one morning I went down for complimentary breakfast it was an odd assortment of individually saran wrapped pastries, mini cereal cups and a couple fruit options.
