We arrived in the Friday before the UF game - having paid an exorbitant amount for the weekend night, only to open the door and have a hot room. So I turned the AC "on" to cool it down while we went out for dinner with our daughter - only to come back and find that not only was the AC not working in our room (#331) but the carpet around the AC was also soaking wet. To be clear, the low for that night was in the 70s. Needless to say, it was hot and muggy. I went down and talked to the person at the desk only to be advised that there were no other rooms and maintenance was gone for the day so the earliest they could get to it would be 8 AM the next day (Game Day). They said they could cancel our reservation and that some other IHG hotel had a room but they couldn't transfer the price (again - it's a game weekend so $$). I posted on the Auburn Parents FB page looking to see if anyone had any space but no luck. And to be clear, I am a woman "of a certain age" and I'm from the NE, so I can't sleep when it's hot, let alone hot and muggy. We came back from being out all day (SEC Nation, VB game, FB game, dinner) and while the AC was "working" it wasn't cold, the carpet was still wet and there was a huge fan blowing the wet carpet air all around the room. I spoke with the manager and he offered $100 off each night (Friday and Saturday) which would take my total from approx $1420 to $1200. I let him know that that was not a sufficient remedy. I researched how other hotels have handled this and they comp'd the night... I am still debating how I will handle this.

Terrible attitudes, ridiculous management and no hot water. First room I got was not clean, trash in the trash cans and bedding on the floor. I was then forced to step away from an important video conference because of this managers policy of not allowing food to be delivered to the lobby. 50 hotel stays each year and this is the only guy that does this. I was then told by the front desk, "you're the one that didn't give them your room number" and then, "you can thank the bad apples that made us have to do that." No hot water, I was told that it takes 10 to 15 minutes, and also that it depends on how many people are in the hotel (I never got hot water, lukewarm at best). When I spoke about this with IHG, they said that management would offer points as compensation, that didn't happen, the manager just sent me an email taking credit for promotional points I had already received from IHG. Imagine having an ego like that at a hotel that can't even get hot water to the rooms. Stay elsewhere until management is changed.
