About

Cruise AgencyTourist Attractions
Phillips Cruises and Tours began in 1958 when tourism pioneers Brad and Helen Phillips, founders of our company, began operating in Prince William Sound. Since those early beginnings, Phillips Cruises and Tours has grown to be Alaska’s premier day cruise business offering our first-class service exclusively on smooth and fast catamaran vessels. A scenic 90-minute drive south of Anchorage brings our guests to the town of Whittier, where our glacier and wildlife cruises depart. Whittier is the western “Gateway to Prince William Sound.” Accessible by car, rail, or bus service, this one-day experience will be the highlight of your trip to Alaska.

This cruise is a must‑do if you want a real glacier moment. Harvard Glacier is unforgettable — we got to watch ice calving and hear that booming white thunder echo across the water. The crew goes out of their way to point out wildlife and even adjusts the route when something special pops up. The whole trip is smooth sailing.Parking is easy: check the main lot first, and if it’s full, there’s plenty of space close by. Highly recommend.

The views were incredible, and the captain was very kind, but unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the ladies who were assisting us. They spoke to us in a rude and unpleasant manner. They didn’t give my baby any coloring sheets, while they did give them to the other babies who were there. The worst part was when they handed out the surveys to rate their service. The girl simply stared at me and then gave the survey to the other people we were sharing the table with. I hope you can speak with the staff about this, especially the girl who was wearing a headscarf.

Even though it was raining and cold, this cruise was a lot of fun. This was mostly due to a great crew. Every one was very nice and accommodating. And, despite choppy water, the boat was very smooth. The pilot knew how to perfectly negotiate the waves to minimize boat rocking. The captain frequently narrated facts about the area and wildlife which made the time go by fast. Did not see much wildlife, just one lonely otter, but seeing the glaciers definitely made it a great trip. We would do it again.

Boats are crowded. If you are on a Princess Alaska Cruise avoid this one - it is both expensive and a waste. 26 Glacier Cruise takes you the same locations you see from the upper decks of the Princess ship the day before or after (from Vancouver or from Anchorage). Additionally you get lousy internal seats because of the way the cruise line buys their vendor tickets. Asked about getting a window seat and they told me that it was based on when you bought your ticket. I had purchased mine 4 months prior to the 26 Glacier cruise from my cruise line. They (however) did not purchase my tickets immediately, I am sure waiting to purchase theirs based on total needed (would not purchase till necessary). One person on the 26 Glacier cruise with us had bought their tickets on the cruise ship the day before and had slightly better crappy center seats - (closer to the window in the direction their seat was facing). Additionally, there was no plan to rotate customers on the minimal open deck areas the boats provide and some customers stand at the railing the entire time customers are allowed on the deck (instead of giving everyone 5 minutes for pictures), and if you happen to be standing 3-5 rows deep on the deck you either don't get pictures, or you get crappy ones with people in the way. It is soooo not worth it. Save your money. Deeply disappointing.

27 Glaciers Tour. Amazing!!!!! If you’re near Anchorage, this is the activity to do and Whittier is the place to go. There are glaciers everywhere, even just driving in to it. On the tour we saw a calving tidewater glacier up close (lots of other glaciers in the distance), a pod of orcas, puffins, seals and so many otters! Definitely a highlight of our trip. Plus the Salmon chowder was actually so good, and they don’t skimp on it. We were not left hungry! Plus there’s more food for purchase if needed. I was very satisfied. Plus the nicest crew. Very family friendly. You can definitely tell this is a family owned business!!! 10/10 recommend!!!
