  Incredibly clean modern hotel. Staff are friendly, communicative. Gets the job done and for a reasonable price. Would recommend, and will not be staying anywhere else the next time I am in anchorage. Convenient location.

  The hotel is new and one of the nicer mid‑tier options in Anchorage, and most of the staff we interacted with were hospitable. Unfortunately, several communication issues and a negative interaction with staff made our stay more stressful than necessary. While on military orders to Alaska, we booked an initial stay at the government per diem rate. Due to limited availability, we stayed next door at the Candlewood Suites for a few nights, where the per diem rate was also honored. When we returned to the Holiday Inn Express to book locally, we did so with the understanding that the per diem rate would continue. The property failed to send a confirmation email and did not communicate that they were no longer offering that rate, leaving us to learn of the significant price increase only upon check-in. When we asked for clarification, the manager stated that the property could set rates at their discretion. A simple explanation that they had unfortunately exhausted per diem inventory would have easily resolved the issue, but the interaction was dismissive and unhelpful during official PCS travel. The property later misrepresented to IHG Customer Service that they had repeatedly offered to work with us on the rate; in reality, the only option presented was a military leisure rate well above the authorized per diem, which we could not accept. This is a modern facility, and I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to improve. Clearer rate communication, automated confirmation emails for local bookings, and improved interpersonal tact during check-in would go a long way toward improving the guest experience.

  We stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Express as we had an early flight back home in the morning. The room itself was fine, beds were comfortable and bathroom was clean. We were out before breakfast so I can't comment on that. However, we booked this hotel specifically for the shuttle and the service is definitely lacking. We checked in and informed the person at the front desk we would be returning our car after we unloaded. She was great and said she would send the shuttle after we left (wish I had gotten her name as she was great). We return the car and go outside and no shuttle so I call. They said 10 minutes. 20 minutes goes by, still no shuttle. I call again and a different person answered and said she thinks the shuttle driver "needed to take a break". 10 minutes later, shuttle finally arrives but we waited another 15 minutes for the shuttle driver to finally head back to the hotel as he was busy talking with people at the airport. When we got back to the hotel the original girl at the desk was surprised it had taken us so long to get back. The next morning, different shuttle driver was also not good. Then, after we returned I wanted to get a copy of my receipt (we were in the lobby for 20+ minutes the morning of checkout waiting for the shuttle, but there was never anyone at the desk so we just dropped our keys in the key return but I didnt get a receipt). I had to call the hotel 6 times before I was able to get the receipt. Every time I called I would be placed on hold for 6+ minutes and then the call would drop. And I called at various times throughout the day. Again, the hotel itself was fine, but there was definitely something lacking with the service.

  Everything was clean. Workers were nice. Breakfast was good. The workout room had lots of space. WiFi was good. The view from the window wasn’t great, but there were blackout curtains.
