As a Diamond member who travels frequently for work, I almost always stay at IHG properties because they are my preferred hotel chain. This was my first time staying at an Indigo property, and I was genuinely shocked by what happened during breakfast. I selected the free breakfast as my amenity, as I always do, and received the standard coupon that I’ve used at many other IHG hotels. The problem occurred the morning of 12/7/2025 when I tried to use it. The server informed me that with this coupon I could only order the “Heart of Texas” meal (photo included), because the coupon stated “HOT breakfast for 2.” I explained that “HOT” does not mean “Heart of Texas,” and that the terms and conditions on the back clearly state “one item from the menu” with no restrictions. He insisted that he had already asked management previously and was told this was the rule. I then went to the front desk, and the employee there confirmed the same restriction. She also mentioned they have other breakfast vouchers without restrictions, but this particular one supposedly did have restrictions—again, something not stated anywhere in the terms and conditions. Because this made no sense, I called the Diamond support line and reported the issue. After Customer Service contacted the hotel, they suddenly stated that I could order anything from the menu except the items marked with a blue dot—completely different from what both the server and front desk had told me. To me, this is a clear inconsistency and a form of mistreatment toward Elite members using this benefit. It feels misleading at best, and at worst, like a deliberate attempt to restrict what the coupon actually entitles us to. It ruined our morning.
