  I stayed at avid hotel by IHG in Van Horn, Texas for one night on 11-30-2025. At first, when booking, the impression was very good—it looked as if the entire facility had been remodeled or newly built. However, once we entered the room, we were disappointed and regretted the choice. I requested a one-bedroom, but was told 'only a double bed was available', so I paid $168.37. Seeing that the parking lot was nearly empty. The parking lot was nearly empty—leading me to suspect the claim of 'no one-bedroom available' was questionable— booked the double-bed room anyway. I think that for the price of $168.37, it was not worth it. I had paid $123.25 on 11-29-2025 at the Hilton DoubleTree in Phoenix, which offered much better facilities. Of course, the difference may be due to breakfast being included here, and the fact that it was a double bed instead of a one-bedroom, as well as the smaller city location—but overall, it was not satisfactory. When I turned on the heater, it gave off dust and odor, so I could not use it. Because of the cold, I could not sleep comfortably. The soundproofing was poor, and I was disturbed by the noise of cars from Highway 10, occasional train sounds, and strong winds outside the window. The small refrigerator in the room did not work, and overall the amenities were lacking. There was a small safe provided, but it did not seem very useful. The room itself was rather small, with no closet. In the bathroom, there were no cups for brushing teeth. Breakfast was average. As my wife also complained, we will not stay at this hotel again, nor would we recommend it.

  We like stopping in Van Horn on our trip from TX to CA, and the place we normally stopped was booked so this is where we ended up. Pleasantly surprised over all, fair pet fee, clean rooms and definitely one of the better continental breakfasts. Friendly staff and a nice large lobby I was able to hang out in with the kiddo when she woke up early and wouldn't go back to sleep.

  Very new and you could tell. Very comfortable stay and budget friendly! My only suggestion is that they should install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations ASAP. There was my EV as well as another one (Tesla) at the neighboring Holiday Inn Express. Many people passing through the area are heading west with long distances ahead of them. For EV drivers, being able to conveniently charge overnight would be a huge benefit. Highly recommend the property reach out to Pangea Charging to get EV chargers implemented here.

  Love the minimalist design/style of the Avid line of hotels with IHG. All tile floors and minimal cabinets in the room. Mini fridge is sufficient to store few things. No microwave in rooms. The room was quiet, comfortable, and very clean. Something I did not see at other Avid is motion detector in the bathroom, lights up when you walk in. Seems fine until it's 3am and the last thing you want is automatic bright light! Breakfast is enough to get your day started. Parking lot is very light up. Surrounded Area seems safe. Price is reasonable. Overall good stay!
