The hotel is pretty nice, but the room, shower, and bathroom need a little TLC. No shower pressure, and the bathroom vent was filthy. The toilet paper holder was falling off.
We headed to the pool for an hour and not once did we receive service for food and drink. Then the main bar was closed for a private party.
The price is steep because this is definitely not a 4-star hotel (3 at best), plus the private party made it feel like a convention center, and we couldn't use the amenities. At least discount the rooms when you prioritize private events over your individual guests.

We stayed here during our vacation to San Antonio, and the Kimpton totally exceeded our already high expectations. Great location and beautiful rooms. The pool had great little cabana-type enclosures for people to enjoy, which was a really nice touch on the rooftop. Servers at the pool were attentive and friendly, too. The location was walkable to pretty much everything we would want. Definitely staying here again if we're back!
Careful with your credit card here especially at Tenfold. We liked to take out of town guests here but recently when paying and tipping two duplicate charges have stayed on my card for over 4 weeks. Resolving it has been difficult. This issue is unique to this business and we never have holds beyond a few days to a week but this one is over 4 weeks and calling the number on the receipt lead to 15 minutes holding while they tried to reach someone at the hotel to resolve it. Pay cash, don’t tip as this is what triggers the double entry of just go elsewhere as we will.

The Kimpton Hotel is incredibly convenient, just steps from the River Walk and a short distance to the Alamodome. It’s a stylish, somewhat upscale and historic property with a bit of a ‘bougie’ vibe—definitely a spot where you might want to dress up a bit for the atmosphere.
We stayed in a Historic Suite and really enjoyed it; the room felt spacious, charming, and well-maintained with great character. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would consider returning for the prime location and ambiance.
The one downside was the unexpected $25 per night destination fee added at checkout (on top of the advertised rate). It felt frustrating not to see this clearly included upfront, as it affects the total cost. Clearer pricing during booking would make a big difference. This fee was refunded after this was brought to their attention.

I stayed at the Kimpton on March 21st. I arrived a little after 3:00, got into my room, and was instantly overwhelmed with a very musty smell. I received a text message at 3:30 asking how my room was. I let them know about the smell. At 3:42, I was told someone would come up to my room to check it out. I followed up at 4:00 as no one had come by yet. 4:23 I was told someone was on the way. At 4:50, someone still didn't make it. I had to leave, they came by during the time I was gone, and when I returned, the smell was still there, just slightly covered by air freshener. I understand they pride themselves on being a dog-friendly hotel, but they definitely need to do more to get the smells out of the room. I asked to be moved to another room, but they said they didn't have any available.
