  When I arrived they tried to bill me for 4 days and I informed them that I was only staying one. I even showed them my receipt on my phone. They said they would take care of it. Guess what??? They billed me for 4 days. When I checked out they charged me the full room rate $200/night (which ironically only had 2 days on it so why am I charged for 4 days?). I showed them I was rewards member and the rate should be less. I again showed them my reservation confirmation which had the reduced $165/night rate and they said the manager would contact me. Guess what??? No phone call as of 4 days later. I also logged onto my rewards account I got the points for the lower cost but charged for the higher rate. This was my first experience with AVID hotels. I'll keep a list of all the IHG hotels so I know which ones to avoid. I got the typical email asking for your experience after a stay. I played along and filled out it out and demanded someone contact me. After that hotel stay i needed a good laugh and this email gave me one.

  Very disappointing experience at Avid Hotel Midland, Texas. After driving all day, I checked in and was approved by the manager for a late checkout (2 PM) the next day. The following morning, two housekeepers knocked and woke me up before the 11 AM checkout. I politely told them I had a late checkout. Shortly after, a front desk employee came and started banging on my door, accusing me of being rude to housekeeping and telling me I had to leave immediately. When I explained that I had an authorized late checkout, he insisted I did not and refused to give me a manager’s number when I asked. A manager later arrived and confirmed I did in fact have the late checkout, exactly as I had said. While he offered a small amount of points, it does not make up for the extremely unprofessional and disrespectful behavior from the front desk employee. I’ve stayed here several times, but this experience left a very bad impression. Customer service like this is unacceptable.

  This was my first stay at an avid hotel. I chose this property based on the positive reviews, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. My original room had a broken refrigerator and microwave. I was told the hotel was fully booked and was only offered a room with twin beds. After speaking with a manager and mentioning my IHG status, I was eventually moved to another room and awarded 1,000 points. However, my concern was never about compensation—it was about receiving proper customer service. Unfortunately, the replacement room presented additional problems, including repeated power outages, non-functioning blinds controlled by a remote that did not work, and the absence of a coffee maker. Even the lobby coffee station lacked basic supplies, such as lids. Although the room itself was clean, nice, and spacious, the number and persistence of these issues significantly detracted from my stay and negatively affected my overall perception of the IHG brand.
