This was hands down the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. I can’t believe Hilton still has its name on it. We usually stay in Hampton Inn because it has consistently good quality for the price. We were shocked when we saw this room. First and foremost there was no smoke detector in our room. Just wires hanging down over the bed. Rust stains in the toilet, holes in the walls, broken furniture and lamps, the window was so stained with hard water stains that you couldn’t see out. More wires hanging down in the bathroom. Please know that this is not your normal Hampton Inn stay. We will now re-think staying with Hilton. See pictures before you book!

There was someone's clothes in the closet on the floor, pretty clear they didn't clean. This place was a mess from the moment you enter. Everything is run down. There's gotta be better places to stay in the area.

Rooms a little run down. Water indoor pool cold and there were mosquitoes all around. Not terrible for $90 per night but there are better places out there.

Hotel was clean, but needs updating. Coffee maker had not been cleaned (still full of water from a previous guest). Breakfast was not well stocked and sausage was over cooked. Fire alarm kept beeping in the lobby during breakfast. Just not the standard you’d expect based on how much it cost to stay here. Not impressed.

Think back to the worst hotel you have ever stayed in. Maybe it was that roadside place with questionable stains and a suspicious smell. Well, that dump would look like a five-star resort compared to the Hampton Inn Lubbock at 4003 South Loop 289. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by a carpet that has clearly survived multiple decades and possibly a few natural disasters. It is less “vintage charm” and more “archaeological find.” The television looks like it was purchased back when remote controls were considered cutting-edge technology. You will half expect the Weather Channel to come in on rabbit-ear antennas. The bathroom experience deserves its own horror movie. Pipes are proudly on display inside the closet, as if the hotel wanted to showcase its inner plumbing like an industrial art exhibit. It is hard to feel relaxed when you are brushing your teeth next to what looks like an abandoned construction project. If you thought you could cool off with some ice, think again. Not a single ice machine in the entire hotel works. You would have better luck finding a block of ice in the desert. And for those planning to use the luggage carts, bring a helmet. They squeak, wobble, and seem to have one wheel in the afterlife. The Hampton Inn Lubbock manages to redefine low expectations. It is less of a hotel and more of a social experiment in how long guests can endure inconvenience. If this place were a movie, it would be a straight-to-DVD sequel titled “Hospitality Gone Wrong.” Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else, even your car would have better ambiance.
