We visited family in Llano for Christmas and reserved two rooms for the four of us that were visiting. We will unfortunately never stay at this location again and have already warned other family members and friends against staying here due to the unpleasant encounter we had to endure with one of the employees. The door lock on the first room assigned to us did not work, so anyone could just turn the handle and enter without a key. I told the guy working at the front desk, so he came out to verify that himself and then bizarrely suggested that it was a safe area, so he could just guard the door for us, suggesting that we stay in a room that did not have a functioning lock. I told him we were not comfortable leaving things, including our dog, in the room if the lock was broken, so he began messing with it to see if he could get it to lock. Eventually, he did get it to lock, but then we were unable to open it at all from the outside with a key. Fortunately, my husband was still inside, so he was able to open the door from the inside, but even after the employee brought out some contraption to try to reset the lock, we still were unable to use a key to get into the room. At this point, I told him I was no longer comfortable using that room because I was concerned about the door lock malfunctioning and either allowing everyone in or no one in and I asked that we be assigned a new room. (All we had done in the room so far was use the restroom/sink, bring our dog inside, and set our bags down - we'd physically been present in the room for less than 15 minutes.) The employee at first ignored my request for a new room, so I stated it again. He then raised his voice at me and said, "I heard you ma'am. But you have already dirtied this room." I told him that was not my problem because the door wasn't functioning on this one and that I wanted a new room. He said that was above his pay grade (again with his voice raised), so I asked him to make a phone call. He then stalked off to the front office and yelled over his shoulder in a menacing way, "Merry Christmas." He eventually came back with new room keys and stood in the doorway of the first room watching us while we removed our belongings, acting as if he thought we were going to try to continue to use that room (which obviously we were not because the door lock was broken!). Frankly, his behavior was so bizarre and disturbing that we slept with a chair and a loaded ice chest up against our locked door for the two nights we were there because we were concerned that he would do something to us. I reported the employee's behavior to the "owner" the next day and he didn't seem to care about our experience at all and just shrugged it off without an apology or an acknowledgement that the employee's behavior was unacceptable.
As for the conditions of the rooms, there was something that looked like a blood stain on the floor in the first room, which was disgusting. I didn't take much of a look around the room since we were in there for such a short period of time, but the blood stain was noticeable. The second room assigned to us had the stripping above the carpet peeling away from the wall in one area and paint splotches missing. One of the chairs in the second room looked very tattered and worn. There were also pubic hairs left on the side of the shower tub that hadn't been cleaned up. The rooms overall are in need of updating and maintenance.
There are a few positives: The breakfast selection was good and did include some microwaveable Jimmy Dean sandwiches, so a hot option was nice. Although the motel is right on the highway and we were in a room close to the road, we didn't notice traffic noise once we were inside. There is ample parking and the spaces (at least the ones assigned to the pet friendly rooms) are spacious. The water pressure in the shower is excellent.
Overall, not worth the money, considering the bizarre and unsettling behavior of the employee. Stay elsewhere for a more safe/secure visit to Llano.

I have to say, this was only my second time staying at a Best Western, and it was such a wonderful experience. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and was a little nervous staying at a hotel with exterior doors as a solo female traveler, but I felt completely safe and comfortable throughout my stay.
I unfortunately can’t remember the name of the gentleman at the front desk when I arrived, but he was incredibly kind and welcoming. I had the chance to talk with him on two separate occasions and truly enjoyed our conversations. He was very knowledgeable about the area, which was so helpful, and even shared some of the hotel’s history. We also talked about their expansive tea collection, which was impressive and such a thoughtful touch.
My room was spotless, and the bed was extremely comfortable — I was genuinely impressed.
The complimentary continental breakfast was fantastic. There was a great variety, including waffles, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, yogurt, cereal, pastries and more. It was the perfect start to the day and gave me plenty of energy before my hike.
Overall, this stay was a delightful surprise. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.
