Perfectly adequate for a travel stay. Room was clean and well-provisioned. Personally prefer no carpet in these locations. Fixtures are a bit dated but fully functional. Plenty of well-lit parking and far enough off highway to be reasonably quiet. Convenient restaurant adjacent.

I stayed at this location from the evening of March 6 until March 8. I was sent here by my company to complete the next phase of my job training. When I arrived and got checked in I thought that even though the location looked dated and in severe need of renovation, it being a Best Western franchise I thought that it would be good. Those thoughts immediately faded away as soon as I walked in the door. The room smelled damp, with an additional odor that I just couldn’t put my finger on. The floor felt slick, yet it was completely dry. The bathroom was in need of a severe deep cleaning, and the “deadbolt” for the door was difficult to operate and appeared that one good swift move would make it fail. Out of all this the worst part of this was the ROACHES!!!!! That’s right, roaches. As I began to unpack a few things that needed for the night I saw the first one run across the side of the bed and if I am not mistaken it was the type commonly referred to as a “German Cockroach.” I swatted this one and thought maybe it was just a straggler. I was wrong more appeared. From under the second bed, from under the furniture that held the refrigerator and microwave. Down beside the refrigerator, and on the walls of the bathroom. I found dead carcasses next to the air conditioner unit and by the door. The chair appeared stained with…. Well let’s just say it was stained. Found the sliding window had been left unlocked by someone, and what appeared to be hair on the end of the curtain covering the window. I would have left immediately but seeing as I had just drove 10 hours from central Alabama I was exhausted and just wanted to go to sleep. The next morning I attempted to find other accommodations but found that the only other hotel was booked for the weekend so I had no other choice but to stay and hope that none of these roaches found their way into my luggage or worse my CPAP machine. Use your own judgment but this would not be my first or even my last one but for a place to lay your head it will suffice. I cannot comment on the “continental breakfast” as I was too afraid to try it based off the condition of my room. A compliant has been lodged with the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The room itself wasn’t terrible. The bed frame could use some better maintenance, and there were a couple of dead bugs in the sink, but the bed was clean and comfortable. I also really liked the hardwood floors — that was a nice touch. Unfortunately, my experience at the front desk overshadowed the positives. After working a 13.5-hour shift, the last thing I needed was an attitude. The front desk associate seemed upset when I explained that my job provides the credit card for my stay, so I wouldn’t be using my personal card. From that point on, her tone changed. She handed me my key and simply said, “Password’s on there, you’re on the second floor.” When I asked where exactly the building was located, she sarcastically replied, “The big two-story building right out there.” I clarified by asking whether my room was in the front or the back, since I had equipment to carry in and it was late. Rather than offering helpful direction, she continued with the same dismissive attitude. Clear instructions are something most front desk staff routinely provide, especially when guests are arriving late and hauling equipment. Having worked in hospitality for much of my life, I understand how important attitude and communication are in this industry. A little courtesy goes a long way. I truly hope she finds her peace and remembers that being hospitable is the foundation of hospitality.

Been a bit since our stay, but just came across my notes. Pros: It was a place to rest our heads for the night Cold AC Cons: No ice available the night we were there for some reason Fridge in the room was frozen up & not cooling Shower faucet needed replaced & the shower had terrible water pressure We were a little disconcerted to notice that it looked like the lock had been busted off the door at some point & little attempt to repair, fill the holes, or repaint the area had been made. This honestly felt more like a stay at a Motel 6 & I thought it was a little pricey for the quality. I opted to stay at a different hotel on my next trip to visit family in Jasper.
