Exceptional Customer Service – Lucia & Deborah Are Top Tier
As an Air Force veteran and a well-traveled truck driver, I’ve checked into more hotels across this country than I can count. I’ve seen every level of service — good, bad, and everything in between. What I witnessed today at this Holiday Inn genuinely stood out.
While I was checking in, another guest was giving Lucia a very hard time. Despite the tension and the guest being visibly difficult, Lucia remained calm, respectful, and completely professional from start to finish. Her composure, patience, and emotional control were impressive. Not once did she allow the situation to disrupt her professionalism.
When the situation required additional support, Manager Deborah stepped in — and she handled it with absolute class. Deborah demonstrated strong leadership, calm authority, and professionalism while maintaining respect for everyone involved. Watching both of them navigate a challenging situation with such grace was honestly impressive.
As someone who is not easily impressed and who has high standards for service, I found myself getting aggravated on their behalf — and I wasn’t even involved. That says everything.
Lucia and Deborah represent this Holiday Inn at the highest level. Their professionalism, emotional intelligence, and customer service deserve recognition. This is exactly what hospitality leadership should look like.
Well done.

No complaints about HIE, this go around. This location was clean, hospitable and quiet. The front desk woman (very nice woman) brought 2 pillows to our room after my wife called them. They explained they don't have "room service" and that she would have to go downstairs. Well, my wife and I were already turning in for the evening and the woman came up to the 3rd floor, and brought the pillows to us! What a nice woman.

This is my favorite hotel. Great price, great amenities, easy to get in and out of. The rooms are clean. Every room has a small balcony to enjoy the fresh air. I will be back to this hotel next time im in the area. The night staff is polite and professional. I was out late for an event and felt safe in the area. Nice part of town.

The staff were very friendly and always willing to help, which made the stay pleasant. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, offering everything I needed. I also liked the 24-hour gym — a great option for dealing with jet lag. Overall, a solid 4-star experience with just a hint of room for improvement.

On Jan. 5th at 3:27am, I arrived at the Holiday Inn hotel at 110 W John Carpenter Fwy, Irving, TX 75039 as directed by American Airlines as a result of a delayed flight.
The Front Desk Associate, Austin, checked me in to room 129. I found guests in the adjacent room 128 talking very loudly. Needing a quiet room to rest, I returned to the front desk and requested Austin for a room change.
Austin issued me with key cards for a new room, 153, on the farthest side of the building. I found the room freezing cold. After adjusting the thermostat to turn on the heat, no warm air was generating from the central air unit.
I went back to the front desk a second time and requested a different room. This time, I asked Austin to check the room before assigning it to me. He said he could not leave the front desk.
Austin then issued me with keys to room 106. Upon entering the room, I found a FILTHY room and bathroom with an UNMADE bed (see attached photo). This is the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. Further, the hotel proceeded to charge American Airlines for this room stay even if I informed Austin that I would not sleep at that hotel. He processed a "check-out" transaction instead of canceling the reservation altogether. He further charged me $10 for breakfast and gave me excuses as to why he could not credit the amount to my credit card.
On Jan. 5th, I emailed General Manager Robin Berkner and Director of Sales Anita Bhamra and they have not responded. I wasted an hour of my precious morning at this filthy and neglected hotel. I would never recommend a stay here, and will be submitting an official complaint to American Airlines.

While you are "reviewing" this matter, can you refund the $10 I paid for breakfast? I neither slept at your hotel nor consumed breakfast and I would like my money back ASAP.
