I recently stayed at the Embassy Suites in Houston and overall had a very good experience. The rooms are spacious — great if you like having a separate living room and bedroom — and while some elements felt a little dated, the bathroom had clearly been refurbished recently and was genuinely lovely. The location is solid and convenient for getting around Houston. The only real frustration was the valet situation. It’s quite expensive, and the system doesn’t seem to work properly with non-US phone numbers, which feels odd for an international hotel. I ended up having to ring reception just to get the valet to bring the car around — not exactly seamless. That said, breakfast was excellent, the gym was fantastic, and the bed was perfectly fine (I’d rate it average to good). Would I stay again? Yes — despite a few annoyances, I’d happily return.

I can not say enough great things about our stay this past weekend at the Embassy Suites in downtown Houston. Suite #1401. From the easy early check in, a rep was checking to make sure we had everything we needed. The suite was spotless and very roomy for us 5. We enjoyed the beautiful pool, the hot tub, and the "happy hour" drinks (2 complimentary) and free appetizers from 5:30-7:00 PM. What a great treat before we headed out for the night. The breakfast was excellent. Made to order. It was in walking distant to many great spots, including Toyota Center and Discover Green. The view was great. When we checked out the next morning we were able to leave our bags while we attended an event at the Toyota Center. The Customer Service from the valet, to the bartender, to the front desk, was 10 out of 10. The only thing I did not like was I felt like the beds were not queen size, more like full. And although we were on the 14th floor we could hear a lot of the car noise outside. If you are a lite sleeper like me, bring ear plugs or a sound machine. But other then that we will be staying there again for our next girls trip Downtown Houston.

A stay of a few days became much longer due to the comfort and amenities at this hotel. Most staffers were generally hospitable or at least polite, and as a standout Jasmine provided great customer service to help relocate from a room with unidentified noise issues. Others who provided good service were Nicole, Lavinia (sp?), and a couple of others whose names I didn't catch such as the lady at the front desk with the short haircut and the lady who worked both the omlette station and the eve reception bar. This hotel is staying on the shortlist. Cons: * Visible wear and tear and loud clanking noises coming from inside the hotel heard in certain rooms * Large TVs, but archaic and buggy (can only watch limited channels on live TV no streaming or casting, and many stations were inaccessible at times) * Major events nearby can lead to regular massive price spikes Pros: * Large suite rooms with TVs in both bed and living room areas, and plenty of seating * Close and walkable to so many great spaces for entertainment, dining, etc.; the city at large is not at all walkable, so this is a plus * Food & beverage are next level from the excellent breakfast to the complimentary HH to the attached restaurant

Stayed for several days while visiting Houston on business. My wife joined me on the trip. She is claustrophobic and doesn’t take elevators. I called several times to determine if the hotel had accessible stairs and couldn’t get a definitive answer. Finally a few days before our trip I spoke with Doug and he assured me that the stairs were accessible via the second floor. Surprisingly, when we arrived at the hotel, Doug checked us in and explained again how to access the stairs. This reassured my wife. Overall, the hotel was nice and the room was clean. The breakfast and evening cocktails were also a nice treat. The restaurant, Hearsay on the Green was convenient and has excellent food. My only issue was the fitness center. It was smaller than I expected and the water station wasn’t always full. In addition to Doug, Emily and Destiny politely handled several of my requests.

I stayed here for 7 nights, and I can honestly say this experience touched me deeply. The rooms are super spacious, but what truly makes this hotel special is the people who work here. The staff are incredibly friendly, caring, and genuinely go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. To me, it’s never about the small issues we sometimes face at hotels — it’s about how the team responds, how fast they act, and the heart they put into fixing things. And here, every single person I met showed exactly that kind of care. Before arriving, I emailed the hotel about my severe dietary restrictions — I have lactose intolerance and also can’t tolerate gluten, onion, or garlic. John Houston, the Area Senior Sales Manager, replied right away, assuring me that my needs were fully noted and would be taken care of. That email alone already gave me confidence that I would be in good hands. From the moment I arrived, everyone made sure my stay was smooth. Destiny handled my check-in quickly and warmly, always with a smile. Bianca, the Food & Beverage Manager, noticed that most of the complimentary evening dishes contained dairy, and without me even asking, she prepared and served me a fresh fruit platter — such a thoughtful gesture that truly moved me. Emily, the Front Desk Supervisor, was so attentive; when I mentioned that the hotel common areas were too cold, she immediately called engineering to fix the issue. Every concern I had was taken seriously and addressed immediately. And then there’s Lorena — the wonderful person who prepared my omelette. On my first morning, she carefully followed my dietary instructions. On my last day, when I saw her again, she remembered everything — my omelette add-ons, my food restrictions, even the fact that I never approached the bar. She kindly asked if I had any special drink preferences or if there was a reason I didn’t drink, simply out of genuine care and curiosity. That small, warm conversation turned a simple breakfast into a beautiful memory. This hotel doesn’t just offer comfort — it offers humanity. Every single person I met made me feel seen, respected, and valued. I left feeling not only well-rested but also grateful for the kindness and professionalism shown to me throughout my stay. I can’t thank the team enough for making this week so memorable. This is the kind of place you don’t just recommend — you remember.
