Our stay was wonderful. The location of the hotel is very close to the medical center area, but far from much else of traveling without a car (to no fault of the hotel, Houston is a large city). For those seeking treatment at any of Houston’s top rated medical facilities, this is the perfect stay. The highlight for us was the transportation. The shuttle service was efficient, and the driver we had each time (Rowdy) made sure we were comfortable and arrived to our destination safely and efficiently each time. We enjoyed our experience, but Rowdy is certainly the reason we’ll return.

Kind of ridiculous that breakfast buffet is $20 when I've been to 10+ doubletrees around the US and all had a free continental breakfast except this one?
The staff was very kind in the morning, but the night staff seemed unapproachable and annoyed.
The rooms are not the best, but not horrible. Prices don't align with what you get. There's an option to use credit for breakfast for gold Hilton members and up, otherwise order something from the menu (talking 3 plain pancakes for $12) or order the $20 buffet that consists of literally the EXACT same food I have eaten at any other doubletree for free..? Odd choice.
The kitchen staff were lovely people and I understand they're not at fault, so it just makes me feel bad because I'm sure any other Hilton patron gets frustrated at this too. Poor sweeties. Skip this location, unless it's 100% necessary. There's probably a better one a few blocks away if you need the food in the morning and don't want to pay for something that's always free elsewhere...
Oh yeah, and you cannot take any food to go if you pay the $20 for the buffet and eat a plate in the restaurant?
Then when I asked for late checkout (noon) they agreed for free, but called my sick husband at 11:40 and woke him up claiming I'd asked to stay until 4pm??? Get it together omfg.

The smoke alarm above my head is blinking every 10 second and I woke up at 3am, couldn't fall back to sleep. I got up at 5am because I was watching the light blinking on for 2 hours!!! When talking to the front desk, they told me as long as it is not making noise then it is normal and there is nothing wrong with it. Very bad experience.
