It has become apparent that Doubletree hotels have chosen the low cost approach to running a hotel. Recent stays have shown great decline in the numbers of employees therefore service is greatly affected. This morning there were only two ladies trying to serve an entire dining room. No coffee, no bread, almost every condiment was empty and the poor lady at the register was overwhelmed. Sad!

An excellent experience all around! Hotel staff is super friendly and accommodating. Lovely room with extremely comfortable beds and plenty of space. Hotel has pool and a bar, and also serves breakfast for around $10.

We gave this place a two star for the following reasons: We were not advised that breakfast is not included: continental breakfast is included or served, $10-$20 dollars depending on category or plan. Coffee? $4.00 dollars, parking $25 a day…. Once again, this was not explained and as usual….. read the fine print! Worry not, next time we will. Update on this review 10-30-25. Our son paid for our stay here, our son was charged for the difference. Lo and behold…. Wham, they charged our credit card as well. We called and all we heard was: I am sorry for the inconvenience sir. We heard so many apologies but at the end son and I were charge! Please, do your due diligence and ask before coming to this place. We don’t mind the $$, we mind the abuse!

I had just got done with a 4 Hour Drive from Dallas to meet my sister in Houston for a photo shoot at McGovern Bicentennial Park. She had a spot nearby at what I affectionately call “the cookie hotel” but when I got there, I could not find her so I went straight into the lobby bathroom to begin the primping process before the photo shoot. The photo shoot was scheduled to start at 8 AM sharp and I got there at about 6:57 AM. When I walked into the bathroom, two other employees were kind enough to follow me inside to make sure that I was doing OK. I was inside the stall changing, I didn’t use the bathroom, or even use the sink, because the only thing I needed to do was to get dressed for the shoot. I was so happy that they were there to keep an eye on me and make sure that I wasn’t falling into the toilet or something silly. You know us girls! After about 20 minutes and still no sign of my sister, Jessica the manager came inside to see if I needed any help. She told me that the two employees who saw me from inside the other stall had superpowers! They both had x-ray vision as one could see into the stall and reported that I was using the toilet, the other could see me at the sink “washing up” when she wasn’t even inside! Strange though because as previously mentioned I didn’t touch the toilet or the sink. I didn’t worry about it though, maybe Professor X can give them a tune-up. So Jessica stood there graciously as I struggled with my head wrap, even inviting the security guard Ali inside to watch me as well. I searched frantically through my bags, looking for my jewelry but during this stressful process, Ali was a total gentleman. He spoke to me, as if I was his own daughter. He treated me with so much kindness and respect. I was actually shocked at how kind his words were and how they made me feel calm in my moment of panic. Jessica and Ali worked in tandem to ensure that I was safe inside the restroom even offering to call the police if I was uncomfortable for any reason at all. Jessica, was completely influenced by Ali because although her encouragement was initially reasonably balanced, the more he increased the intensity of his encouragement she did too. I was happy that even through their excitement they were able to give me ample time to explain my missing jewelry, give more details about my sister and the photoshoot and everything. Unfortunately with the cacophony from both Jessica, Ali and Valerie, my insides began to move, my body began to react in real time to the beautiful excitement of the moment. So although actually calm on the outside and vigilantly and thoroughly non-reactive to their empowerment, suddenly I needed to use the restroom right away. The body always takes the score! And Jessica was just so gracious to allow me to relieve myself. I mean woman to woman, human to human that’s all you can ask. I’m so grateful that Ali stepped out of the restroom, took hold of my property and kindly carried my bags to the curb. What a gentleman! And guess what? Even after carrying my bags out, Ali followed me to the car and took pictures of me. I was initially, totally unaware of this as I sat in my car on my phone but when I noticed, he promptly fast walked away and continued to film from a distance. I think he just wanted to give me a pre-taste of the photoshoot. I took some snaps of him as well just to make sure I remembered his face, so when I tell my dad about how nice he was to me, he can give him his best. I’m so grateful to Jessica, the manager; Ali, the security guard; the lovely staff lookouts; and Valerie, the bystander, for ensuring that my time at my favorite cookie hotel was nothing short of memorable. God willing, this experience will be drowned out by others; it was just so sweet, it seems like it should stay right where it is. And yes, the photoshoot was fantastic! Thank you to the staff for all of your support. I look forward to the day when each and every one of you will have an experience just like mine. One can only hope to have strangers be so kind to you during your time of need.
