I hate leaving one star reviews, but there was one major reason for it. The hotel was clean and pretty nice for an older building. We had a 2 day event here and they were decently prepared. - Only one elevator was working and it was questionable. The only ice machine on our floor was broken the entire time. Their water bill must be pretty hefty, as it was running wide open into the drain the whole weekend. - The beds were almost comparable in comfort to a thin futon mattress. - The door keys were randomly deactivated throughout the weekend. - Here is the big one! All purchases for food and drink had a 24% "service fee" added. Thats correct, 24%!!!!

My husband, myself & teen daughter checked in & we stayed at the cabana room. The decore looked nice but extremely uncomfortable. The platform beds were extremely low & I had to use the headboard to assist me get up from the bed. The mattress was soft, we both experienced back pain,I hurt my back sleeping in the very low full size bed. What hotel has double full size beds; and the platform beds were extremely low. I spoke to the manager Jesus, & he said they will do an upgrade sometime this year ; but he did not offer any compesation for solution toward the bill. My back is still not right since staying at this hotel. Bathrooms are tiny, lighting is dull & its just old. The side where the cabana rooms are felt abandoned. Let me say, It is not cheap to stay at the double tree. The online said free parking, I was shocked when were told to use QR code to pay for the parking & we had to pay for breakfast. I saw online it says the parking is free; but the front desk says they started charging for parking in September. Horrible, I wish I could give no stars! The maintenence man rene; was very nice. Ms. Loretta & Jackelyn at breakfast had great hospitality. The manager Jesus, heard our complaints, but did nothing to compensate our bill. Our rate changed the next day; at check out & was higher than when we checked in. Also we had to pay for breakfast; our room didn't come with a breakfast voucher. This is a money pit; we paid for every single thing here. Paying all this money for full size beds. Then I saw in my bill a landing tax charge 34.00; when we drove to Houston; we didn't fly. Terrible, to pay for a hotel that is so old, outdated & lighting very dull in the rooms. I stayed here jan 3rd, my back is still in pain right now & it's jan 5th. What hotel still has full size beds that are low to the ground. The price we paid is unreasonable for full size beds that are overly soft. The beds aren't even firm. I will not b recommend anyone to stay here.

We attended a New Years Eve Party in the ballroom. Our room was very clean, the halls and overall hotel was clean and up to date. The front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. The cookies were warm and delicious 😋 We will stay at this location again.

Pros first: The hotel does offer a convenient airport shuttle to Hobby Airport that runs frequently, which makes overnight airport stays easier. There is also a pool with nice lounge chairs, though it is unheated. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The room felt musty and muggy, with a noticeable dampness in both the room and carpet. The air conditioning barely worked, and the toilet ran all night, making it difficult to get any rest. While the hotel’s location is convenient for Hobby Airport, the surrounding area is rundown with nothing to do within miles. If you need to stay near the airport for one night, I would recommend choosing another hotel if possible, although options in this area are limited.

I’ve been staying at this hotel for decades and I really like it, but because of the parking app, I’m probably going to find somewhere else to stay in the future. I don’t have a problem paying for parking, but doing it with a buggy cellphone interface is something that I won’t deal with. Sorry not sorry
