TO ALL FUTURE GUESTS THAT ARE READING THIS TO DETERMINE IF THEY SHOULD STAY HERE... THE QUICK ANSWER IS, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE, THIS PLACE ISNT WORTH THE MONEY. THE LONG ANSWER IS BELOW.
I recently changed from holiday inn to Best western as I travel several times a year for work. I can say this is the 4th best western I have been to and by far this is the worst hotel EVER.
1. I believe this is just a best western thing but why are the pillows so small? they are the size of throw pillows for a couch and you get a total of 4. Its like sleeping on pillows meant for the dog.
2. I think its safe to say that when they clean the rooms, they do not move anything. I had to move one of the night stands to plug in a charger and there were a couple of tobacco pouches just thrown on the floor and covered in dust, so you know they have been there for a while.
3. Why is the refrigerator so cold that it freezes everything I put it in it. I'm not normally so picky but this place rubbed me the wrong way.
4. Before calling it a night, I wanted a small cup of coffee but the only thing they had was decaf and tea. I didn't want to make a big deal so I didn't say anything thinking it was a bit late and they may not have restocked. I just called it a night without coffee.
5. I was told when I checked in that breakfast starts at 6:30am. I had to be to work by 8am and so I made sure I was in the breakfast area by 6:30 sharp. It was completely empty and dark. Everything still locked up and unopened. I was very very disappointed. I stepped outside and waited nearly 15 minutes for someone to show up and put food out. By this point there were 2 or 3 other people waiting as well. 6:45-6:50 someone finally started putting food out. I grabbed a plate and checked out the food. It was completely uneatable. The sausage looked like it was cooked several days ago and they just kept reheating it because no one was eating it. It was absolutely disgusting. By that point, I gave up on the idea of food. I went to the front desk where the coffee was and noticed there was still no regular coffee options. Only decaf and tea. I wanted to speak with the front desk person but they had a note on the desk that said "Will be back in 2 minutes" That note was there for every bit of 15 minutes. I was running out of time to get to work so I just got ready and left for work.
6. The door on the ground floor stays unlocked ALL NIGHT LONG. Literally anyone can just walk in whenever they want. I was also approached by homeless people that were hanging out on the stairs in the back of the building and asked for money. I didn't realize until the next day that the door just stays open all the time. I know this because it doesn't even close all the way. This is a massive security concern.
7. When I got back to the hotel from my job, I was really wanting that cup of coffee and went to the little coffee table and noticed that there was still only decaf and tea. I asked the lady at the front counter if they had any regular coffee and was told no, they don't carry that. Another disappointment.
8. I went to my room thinking I could use the coffee provided in the room. NOPE, that is also decaf. WHY? WHY ONLY DECAF.
9. WHY DOES THE TEMPURATURE IN THE ROOM KEEP CHANGING? When I first walked in the room it was set to 66, which is a bit cold but fine for me as I sleep pretty hot anyway. I looked a little later and saw it was set to 70. I know I didn't touch it but that fine, I can handle 70. When I get back to my room from work it was set to 76. That's way too hot for me. This room has a thermostat monster apparently. This whole experience makes me want to find another hotel chain to stay with and abandon Best Western the way I did with Holiday Inn.
If someone from Best Western would like to respond... the one question I have about this location is. What makes this location "Plus?" you are no better than a Motel 6. You don't even have coffee or eatable breakfast. I was better off in a motel with these accommodations.
UGH, I'm so disappointed.
A Solid, Budget-Friendly Stay (But Bring Ear Plugs!)
Overall, this hotel offers a great value for the price, and I would choose to stay here again. It was nice, felt very clean, and had a pleasant, welcoming aroma in the common areas. The staff were consistently nice and friendly, which really enhanced our experience.
I stayed with my husband and our 7-month-old daughter, and she seemed comfortable throughout our visit. The hotel is generally quiet, but be aware it's located right next to a busy highway. We did find the highway noise made it a little difficult to sleep at times.
Room & Amenities
We had a room with one king bed and a pull-out sofa. The pull-out sofa could use an upgrade, but it was perfectly usable. The restroom was well-stocked with two sets of large, medium, and hand towels. They provide their own basic body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, which were decent—nothing luxurious, but they certainly got the job done.
Our main issue was with the A/C unit. It was an "all or nothing" situation: you were either warm or cold, with no comfortable in-between. We had to turn it off and on constantly throughout our stay to regulate the temperature.
Breakfast & "The Store"
The complimentary breakfast was just okay. They offer a standard selection of waffles, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, bagels, and bread. The hot items—the eggs and pale sausages—were watery and unappetizing. It's fine for a quick bite, but don't expect a gourmet start to your day.
A major negative was the ridiculously high prices in the hotel's little shop. Our last night, we paid $30 for two hot pockets, two drinks, chips, and cookies. That's corporate pricing at its worst. I highly recommend taking a short walk to the Shell gas station nearby, where you could easily get twice as much for under $30.
The Final Verdict
Ultimately, you get what you pay for, and this hotel is a solid choice in its price range. While you can't expect perfection (like a seamless A/C system or five-star breakfast) without paying a much higher rate, this hotel does a good job with the basics: comfort, cleanliness, and friendly service. If I had to choose between this hotel and another comparable option, I would choose this one.
