  Garner Hotel Gonzales (IHG) — Disappointing & Misrepresented We chose this hotel because it is advertised as part of the IHG brand, which implies a basic standard of quality, safety, and accuracy. Unfortunately, this property did not meet those expectations. The hotel was booked through Vio.com, but the photos and descriptions there match the official IHG website. The issues below are not the result of a third-party listing error — the listings are consistent with each other, but not with reality. Room & Maintenance Issues - Bathroom floor had cracked and broken tiles - Loose towel bar and toilet paper holder - Vanity space was minimal, despite being advertised as “spacious” - Bathtub was a standard tub, not a “deep soaking tub” - Closet mirror cannot open fully because it hits the AC unit - No in-room coffee or tea maker, despite being advertised - Netflix on the TV was still logged into another guest’s account Amenities & Common Areas - Advertised amenities such as a fitness center do not exist - Patio/garden area is extremely basic and does not match listing photos - Ice machine was missing its air filter and appeared poorly maintained Breakfast Breakfast was unappetizing and poorly maintained. Several guests chose not to eat due to concerns about food quality and safety. Staffing & Security Concerns - At check-in, a room key was issued without requesting ID or a credit card - At approximately 10:35 AM, the front desk was unattended with a “Be Back in 10 Minutes” sign. Multiple guests were waiting — one needed shampoo and conditioner just to take a shower, another was locked out of their room. - Front desk conduct toward a young adult guest in our party was inappropriate and unprofessional, making her feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Overall, this property reflects poor maintenance, weak oversight, and misleading marketing. Given the IHG branding, this was especially disappointing. I hope IHG reviews this location closely, as it does not align with brand expectations.
