This may have been a 5 star review if I had actually been permitted to stay in the room that I prepaid $297 for. After a long drive, I received a call from a Harbor House hotel clerk asking if I still planned on staying there that night. I told him I was 10 minutes away. He said that they were oversold. He didn’t apologize but said they found me a room at another hotel and that Harbor House would cover the charges. I took that to mean that my room would be comped. That isn’t an unreasonable interpretation as decent hotels will frequently comp the first night at another hotel if they overbook. I was sent to the San Luis Resort. It was a perfectly nice hotel but the entire point of booking at Harbor House was to be walking distance from the cruise port. San Luis Resort is about a 15 minute drive. I wasn’t looking for a resort experience; I was arriving late at night and just wanted to sleep, wake up early to see the ships sailing in, and walk to the port. First, they should never have oversold my prepaid room. It appears to be a regular occurrence there based on my conversations with the staff. Once they did decide to sell my prepaid room to someone else, they should have clearly told me that I would still be responsible for the $297 charge while they booked me into a hotel of their choice. I would have insisted on a refund instead and found my own cheaper accommodation. I did email the general manager and she gave me a $100 refund but wouldn’t budge on the full refund. It seems like a nice enough property if you actually get to stay there. Unfortunately, the government does not extend the same rights to hotel guests that they do to airline passengers who are involuntarily bumped so it doesn’t look like I have much recourse. Make sure to advocate for yourself ahead of time if you find yourself in the same situation as me.

Super cute and clean room we got for NYE! We can't wait to return! It's conveniently located in the middle of Katie's Seafood and Willie Gs. You have access to a heated pool, and gorgeous views of the water!

Let me start by saying that Dee, the front desk manager, was AMAZING!! Thank you Dee! See you soon! Was this “luxurious”? No. But truly nice. Was it an incredible value? Yes Will I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY. The good: The hotel is perfectly located for local shopping and eating. The room has the holy basic travel trinity: EXTREMELY comfortable bed! SPOTLESSLY clean and climate controlled room! GREAT shower and water pressure! The bad: hmmm.. the parking is a tiny bit tricky? The ugly: nope. None here.

A week ago my two boys left on the Carnival Jubilee. It was so hard to see them go, and I spent 4 hours in the crowd on the Pier watching them leave the Port. The night before their arrival, I stayed at the Harbor House in a corner, King Size room with a Harbor view, and it was luxurious! I had a full view of the Port and their ships re-entry, which i took full advantage of as I couldnt sleep due to my excitement. The location is PERFECT for cruises as you can see the ships come snd go, and youre walking distance to the cruise terminal (Carnival).

Dee is the superhero of Harbor House. We’ve stayed here multiple times and she never ceases to surprise us! Thank you for the call to Katie’s for us, Dee! This was the first time we met Travis and he made a great impression as well. Thanks for fixing our TV so quickly, Travis. Harbor House has a family-like atmosphere which is why we love staying here. The rooms are nice, the beds are comfortable and the extra amenities in the rooms are an added special touch. We will continue to stay here every time we sail out of Galveston and look forward to seeing Dee (and now Travis) every time!
