Best thing about this hotel was leaving it as the breakfast was decent.
Parking? Advertises free safe parking in their lot. Reality - the staff are telling you to park in red zone fire lanes and in the street (This hotel is using its parking lot for people not staying at the property apparently) And there were people double parking, blocking each other in, making it feel very unsafe.
Clean? Lobby sure tricks you into thinking it is. The rooms are run down, there is a strong odor that I can't tell what it is. Chemicals, paint fumes, musty? Not sure, I tried hard to block it out, but I had children with me so I was up all night with a stress rash thinkin bout it.
Staff? Check in lady was lovely. Check out? Not so much. Husband said the man checking out wasn't friendly.
Overall, I'm very confused as last Best Western was better than this. Also - side note as not sure if just our room but we had what felt like a child toilet. Very small and very uncomfortable to sit on.
The stars are for the front desk lady and staff that sort the breakfast. This place seems more focused on being a parking lot for vacay cruisers than people actually wanting to visit Galveston.

Do not book this two star hotel. The franchise owner makes it clear that he does not guarantee your reserved room. I felt threatened.
A vacation that started on a sour note after reservations were denied after booking 2 months in advance. When I did not receive the room type I booked, I went back to the front desk to ask for the upgraded room originally booked and paid for. When he said it is not available I said that was unacceptable. The owner said get out! I will call the police to remove you.
Moved to Moodies for a wonderful stay before the cruise ship departure. The local law enforcement was very kind and did arrive. They told me that this occurs frequently by this owner at this low budget 2 star hotel.

Unfortunately, our room was not what we expected from a Best Western Plus, especially after paying extra for a “Seawall view.” When we first arrived, the room had a strong paint odor that was immediately noticeable. The carpet had visible paint splatters, the furniture was rusty, and the sheets were badly ripped — not exactly the quality you hope for when checking into a hotel.
We did ask to change rooms but were told there were no other rooms available.
On the positive side, the front desk staff was very friendly and professional. The shower was wonderfully hot (and adjustable!), and the towels were thick, clean, and very nice — definitely a highlight of the stay.
After a long flight, we were really looking forward to using the gym, but unfortunately the fitness center was closed with an “Out of Order” sign, which was disappointing after choosing a hotel with that amenity.
Overall, the staff was very helpful, but the condition of the room and the closed gym made this stay a letdown. With better maintenance and attention to detail, this could be a much better experience.
Nice rooms but parking is atrocious. What a racket on vending. Out of orange juice, I can't have apple juice. Have to get soda from front desk. Cash only. No card. Cannot charge to room. Nice man next to me bought mine. A stranger who didnt know me. They should NOT be offering park and cruise with a small lot. BEWARE!!!!

This was one of the most disturbing hotel experiences I have ever had, and I strongly warn anyone considering this property to stay FAR away.
Before booking, I called the hotel multiple times to ask a very clear question: Can I book one night and park my car for 7 days while I go on a cruise? Each time, the receptionist confirmed the same thing — book one night, sign the waiver, park, and I’m good. I called four separate times just to be absolutely sure.
I arrived, signed the waiver, and was told I could park anywhere. Everything was confirmed and documented.
After I left the property, I suddenly received a phone call from the OWNER, who immediately began yelling, cursing, and threatening me. He said that if I did not physically stay the night at the hotel, he would tow my car and call the police. When I calmly asked for the reason, he said I “don’t understand anything” and continued shouting.
I asked a very reasonable question: Why does it matter if I spend the night? What if I’m out with friends?
His response? He told me not to come back to the property at all or he would call the police — even though I had legally booked, paid, and signed their paperwork. He had already contacted a towing company to remove my car.
At that point, I feared for my safety. I sent my husband to retrieve the car, and the owner attempted to provoke a physical confrontation, cursing, following him, and behaving aggressively like a person completely out of control.
This is not a misunderstanding — this is intimidation and harassment. I have proof of all calls made to the hotel, and the property likely has video footage showing that I followed every instruction given to me.
No guest should ever feel shaken, threatened, or afraid because of a hotel owner’s behavior. Hospitality means making guests feel safe and welcome — not bullying them, threatening police involvement for no reason, or attempting to start a fight.
I will be reporting this property to the appropriate authorities. Travelers deserve transparency, professionalism, and basic human decency — none of which were present here.
Avoid this place at all costs.
