This hotel was near an out of town worksite for me and I reserved a room at the HIE Edinburg for 2 nights. The hotel had a foul, sewage smell which was worse on the ground floor. I asked them to move me to an upper floor. The fourth floor didn't smell as bad, but the room had cockroaches. I had to reserve another hotel room at a very late hour, let the front desk know I was checking out due to roaches, and they charged me for one night anyway and would not refund me even though I didn't mess up the room-I was barely there before I found the roach. Learn from my mistakes and do not stay here. Customer service stinks as bad as the plumbing issue that they're not fixing. They're also in denial that they have bugs. This place is gross.

When walking through the front door it smells sooo bad. Air freshener might help
The bathroom towels were dirty
Nothing like getting out of the shower and grab a dirty stained towel
The DOVE products in the bathroom are not Dove brand but a cheap version
I have photos but won’t let me upload here

This Holiday Inn Express in Edinburg needs some maintenance and care. Our room was spacious and had 2 nicely sized queen beds, which were comfortable. I really liked that there were a variety of labeled pillows (soft and firm). The bathroom toilet handle was cracked and the water would continuously run when flushed. My husband had to open up the tank and adjust the floater. The shower water pressure was good with sufficient drainage. One of the elevators chimed loud enough for us to hear it inside our room, down the hall, which was annoying when trying to sleep. The main floor restroom was constantly dirty, lacking toilet paper, and not supplied with hand soap.
The breakfast served was hit and miss. Our first morning, there were quite a few people and not enough staff to keep things replenished. The second morning, the food seemed fresher and was stocked well. We didn't have the opportunity to eat breakfast on our 3rd morning.
The hotel does have a washer and dryer on site that you can use for a fee, with laundry supplies available for purchase. The machines worked well.
We did have to ask for extra towels every night, as there were 4 of us in the room and for some reason our room would only be restocked with 2 or 3 bath towels.
The location worked well for us since we just needed the proximity for the expressway. Restaurants are located within a substantial walking distance (although Chipotle and Dutch Bros are across the street).

I had a wonderful weekend stay overall. One thing I notice immediately in hotels is the smell, and this hotel was very clean and fresh the moment we walked in, no musty odors at all. The elevators worked smoothly, which I also appreciated.
Our room was great. It was already nice and cold when we arrived, smelled clean, and everything looked spotless. The shower had excellent water pressure, and I loved that they provided complimentary Dove products for the shower as well as hand soap and lotion. I’m a big fan of that brand, so that was a nice touch. The towels were also surprisingly soft, unlike the scratchy towels you sometimes get in hotels.
The only complaint I have is about the breakfast. When I went down around 8:30 a.m., quite a few items were already empty and not being refilled even though breakfast didn’t end until 10:00 a.m. Some of the juice flavors were empty, and several food items were out, so I didn’t get to try everything. The tables in the seating area also had crumbs and were a bit sticky.
Aside from the breakfast area, everything else was 10/10. The cleanliness, comfort, and overall atmosphere made it a great stay.
