DISCRIMINATION was disgusting AND complicit. VIOLATED ADA (American Disability Act) against me- 100% SERVICE CONNECTED DISABLED FEMALE VETERAN. The shame & disgrace towards my emotional support animal (Psychiatric Service Dog- SPECIALLY TRAINED for my severe PTSD) was reprehensible, vulgar, flagrantly demeaning and ILLEGAL. The front desk staff (Maria) AND “ General manager” (who cowardly couldn’t speak to me directly) were unknowledgeable about ADA as well as Holiday Inn/IHG policy & procedure. If this assault against a soldier, a peaceful HUMAN being wasn’t provoking enough to my PTSD, the incompetence & sick moral compass put the nail in the coffin. A MANAGER booked my stay for 30 days AND took $700 for the first week (knowing about my dog & having me sign a doc about poss damages). When Maria (regular employee) came in after this transaction, she proceeded to call me and refuse me the stay bc of my SPECIALLY TRAINED PTSD dog. This egregious misconduct, failure to adhere to state & federal laws/standards, complicit engagement in discrimination, and attack on my character will NEVER be tolerated. Holiday Inn/IHG WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE . I will be filing formal grievances with the FTC, ACLU, BBB, and CFPB. ***In response to the GM’s (Christa) attempt to CYA, let me reiterate that there was an unequivocal failure to comply with ADA. What’s more, when I took the time to inform the front desk girl straight from the ADA website, the GM was called and was complicit in perpetuating the toxic behavior. And how convenient that the GM was just coincidentally unavailable every time I presented to the desk. On the same note, the front desk did NOT happenstance ascertain on their own that I had my SPECIALLY TRAINED dog with me. I informed Aria, an event manager, the AM following check-in, that I wanted to stay 30 days and was requesting a quote. When I agreed, I asked what information was needed about my ESA/Service Dog (Bella). I verbalized 3 different times that i couldn’t remember if I told Maria about Bella, that it was my third motel in 3 nights. Aria said that signing a release would cover all bases. She wasted no time debiting $700 for one week-almost as if it was a game and knew it wasn’t going to happen. That evening Maria called to tell me I was being refused further service bc of my SPECIALLY TRAINED PTSD dog.
