  Bed bugs ⭐☆☆☆☆ Avoid this place The room smelled sour and damp — almost like agar from a microbiology lab. That alone should have been a warning sign. Then I discovered bed bugs in the mattress seams after waking up with bites. When I reported it, staff seemed more focused on arguing about charges than fixing the problem. Between the smell, the bed bugs, and questionable billing practices, this was easily one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I’d strongly recommend staying somewhere else.

  I enjoyed my stay at The Holiday Inn Austin Town - Lake . The rooms are a little dated but for the price it is what you would expect! The Service at the front desk could use a little training in customer service. They are very nice, but the just are not really concerned about the guest experience from time of check in to the time the y leave. The location is about a 5 minute walk to Rainey St and a 20 minute walk to 6th Street . I would probably not stay there again… But I would recommend it if you’re looking for a inexpensive stay close to downtown

  The rooms were very clean. Some were pretty dated but they were clean and taken care of. The people that were down at the desk were very fast and efficient. They answered any and all questions. The bar was pretty awesome. The bartender like to talk and he kept our drinks full. Parking could have been a problem but we were able to get in and out with some efficiency. There is not a lot of parking here so you need to be ready for that. The entrance is not very well marked so it's very easy to miss. All in all highly recommended. Five stars

  -great location, I think that’s what prevents me from giving it 1 star (right next to the lady bird trail). -extremely high variation with the hotel staff: at times nice but not competent, at times competent but not friendly, and I don’t believe they communicate with each other (one desk staff member said we could have late check out, the other questioned the validity of the request I made and effectively said I was lying). -we found dirty underwear in our room which we had to remove ourselves, when we informed staff they laughed and just seemed surprised (they did eventually offer a room switch). We left the underwear outside of the hotel room and it remained there for a majority of our stay, even after informing staff. -our room wasn’t cleaned in a timely manner (we left at 9 am, came back around 5 and it hadn’t been cleaned). The staff did promptly provide extra towels when asked. -I wasn’t provided with the waters included in my IHG platinum membership (observational, not a big deal but to be told it wasn’t included seemed odd to me). -An elevator was down the entirety of our stay which made getting to and from our room about a ten min trip.

  Just had a great experience at this hotel and staff while visiting Austin for a professional convention. It started with the courteous and friendly service from the airport shuttle driver, Lee. Check in was easy with George at the front desk. He made sure I not only was able to check in a bit early, but made sure that my upgrade due to membership was utilized. The room was lovely and clean, with an excellent view of lady Bird Lake. Housekeeping kept us comfortable with towels and coffee, and the in-room climate system worked quietly and efficiently. The food provided via the downstairs bar/lounge was delicious and well-priced. Breakfast was very good. Checkout was easy, and all staff members were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Great location to wandering exploration around town and lake, too. Highly recommend!
