Disappointing Experience from a Loyal IHG Guest, Safety and Professionalism Concerns.
As a long-time IHG One Rewards Club member who frequently travels for both work and pleasure, I’ve stayed at multiple EVEN Hotels and other IHG properties with consistently positive experiences. The brand’s focus on wellness, attentiveness, and professionalism usually makes it my go-to choice.
Unfortunately, my extended stay (on and off over about three weeks in Jan-February 2026, room 209) at this EVEN Hotel location was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve encountered in years of travel. While some staff members, like Alex at the front desk, were genuinely helpful and kind, the overall service fell short due to one employee’s repeated unprofessional and concerning behavior.
During check-in, the front desk associate (who identified herself as Amor) seemed inexperienced, keeping my family waiting over 20 minutes while fumbling with the system without updates or apologies, I remained patient as a repeat guest. Throughout the stay, she was frequently absent from the desk, often engaging in casual interactions with other staff rather than assisting guests. More alarmingly, she abandoned her post entirely during her shift to sit at the bar and mingle with a male employee, creating an unsafe environment, particularly for families with small children, including mine, whom she was rude and volatile toward on multiple occasions.
Post-checkout, when I contacted the hotel about valuable prescription medication left in the room fridge (medically necessary and worth hundreds of dollars), another employee (Maria) was hostile over the phone, refused to check or involve housekeeping, placed me on hold without proper greeting, and failed to follow up as promised. This lack of basic courtesy and accountability was shocking for an IHG property.
I value the EVEN brand and have loved other locations, but this experience, spanning weeks of stays, highlighted what appears to be a management or training gap. Issues like desk abandonment, on-duty bar hanging, and rudeness toward children don’t align with IHG’s standards or the wellness ethos EVEN promotes.
As a loyal guest, I’d prefer to continue supporting the brand elsewhere, but this has made me hesitant to return here.
