  Don’t let the fake 5 star reviews fool you this place is an absolute dump. Carpets stained and disgusting. Whole place smells like mold. Not even the sheets or towels smell clean. Not to mention no hot water. There really needs to be a way to get rid of the fake reviews because it’s misleading and quite frankly not right. I’ll sleep in my truck before giving this place any money ever again.

  Man this place was great. The breakfast is what it should be and room service comes every 3 days! I didn’t have a problem with the until the front desk called me IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT to let me know my payment didn’t go through and that I could just pay in the morning. Get somebody competent running this place

  Staff cannot be bothered to do their jobs. They’re always out on a smoke break and leave you standing at the desk forever. Rooms are also nasty with large stains and it looks like they’re not cleaned very well in between guests.

  This was by far one of the crappiest, poorly-maintained hotels I’ve stayed in in a long time. If you are coming to Athens, TX, don’t waste your money. Everything is old. The carpet in our room had multiple stains. The TV remote didnt work. There were holes in the curtains. The sofa looked like it was 30 years old and so dirty looking I wouldn’t let my dog sit on it. The ice machine on the first floor didn't work, the water dispenser near the entry didn't work. The second day when we returned to our room, our room card keys didn’t work. The breakfast was passable, but the second morning they ran out of coffee and were not effectively monitoring the food supply. The young woman tasked with overseeing the breakfast was not proactive and didn’t comprehend English well enough to understand the deficiencies. I can’t believe this hotel stays in business.

  I recently stayed at this hotel, and I have to say it was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked into the lobby, I noticed a strong musty smell that reminded me of damp basements or moldy carpet. It wasn’t just in one area — it’s everywhere throughout the entire property. The hallways, the elevator, and even inside my room all have the same overwhelming odor of mildew and mold. It’s honestly hard to breathe comfortably when you’re inside for any length of time. When I first arrived at my room, I could tell right away something wasn’t right. The window had been left open, which struck me as odd, but after a few minutes it became obvious why — they were trying to air it out. Someone had sprayed a heavy amount of air freshener or potpourri to cover up the musty smell, but after being in the room for about an hour, the scent of mold comes right back through and completely overpowers whatever they sprayed. It gets so strong that it’s almost impossible to sleep or relax. Beyond the smell, the overall cleanliness of the room leaves a lot to be desired. There’s visible dirt and dust in the corners, around the baseboards, and on some of the furniture. The carpet looks worn and grimy, and the bathroom doesn’t feel freshly cleaned. It just feels like this place hasn’t been maintained properly in a long time, both in terms of cleanliness and basic upkeep. I honestly can’t believe this hotel is still operating in its current condition. The air quality feels unhealthy, and I’m genuinely surprised the health department hasn’t already investigated or shut it down. It’s clear that something serious needs to be done to address the mold, the lack of deep cleaning, and the overall condition of the property. Until that happens, I can’t in good conscience recommend anyone stay here.
