The company I work for has a long stay contract with this establishment. I’ve been here for almost 2 weeks. And in that time, $700 worth of work clothes and boots have been stolen from me out of the hotel.
The hotel did little or nothing to investigate or help in the matter.
Security doesn’t even exist here. Multiple doors leading to the outside have been pried open, and the locks are broken, allowing non-residence access to every floor.
The elevators work sometimes and sometimes they don’t and have zero Inspection tags on them.
My room is rundown and has damaged furniture and the appliances were dirty when I got here.
All of the amenities have been stripped , broken or stolen.
The laundry room does not match the photos on the website because non-residence are being allowed to use them at their own discretion due to no doors locking anywhere
The door to the gym and the laundry room is broken and you don’t need a key to get in
The business center has been turned into a dirty storage room
The traffic and unsavory characters in the parking lot are dangerous and I’ve been approached multiple times by locals that are hanging out around here and asked for money and cigarettes
The staff actually working this building, however, are doing their best, but it seems that they have no support from the corporate office and no funds to repair anything
This place is dirty, unsecure and unsafe and I highly recommend doing your best to stay somewhere else
I want to make sure I say that the staff that works here are great especially a lady named Sinthia
She was the only one that helped me try to find out who stole my stuff but in the end I was just out $700 and almost missed work because even my work boots were stolen

If there was a choice to put no stars I definitely would put that instead of one star. This place is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever ALMOST stayed at since they triple booked our original room and gave us a sorry excuse of an “upgrade”. The room that was given to us afterwards had no other bed since we asked for two beds, and when we asked after discovering there was in fact no pull out bed the woman who worked the night shift admitted that she had never actually been in or seen any of the rooms. I find that very unprofessional since you are stating we are being upgraded when it genuinely looked worse. Even worse than the elevator if I’m being completely honest. She did not seem to be concerned for the situation at hand, but seemed more concerned about her boyfriend outside that was smoking with her in front of the establishment. She also didn’t want to give us a full refund and said it was our fault and she had nothing to do with it, and kept looking outside for her boyfriend. Completely unfocused and highly unprofessional I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and she should be held accountable for her behavior and actions. I’m not a Karen one bit but this just seemed so wrong even the way she handled the situation. If you’re more concerned about your boyfriend than your job then stay home don’t bring your relationship to work. Do better for your customers!

I made a reservation through my IHG account. I was shortly contacted by the hotel and made aware that they had been overbooked. No big deal. Said I would not be charged but I was charged. This occurred 10/25/25 and it is now 11/7/25 and I still have not received a call back from the hotel manager. I’ve called 3 days straight and still nothing. They are very unprofessional and I will never recommend this place. The manger manages to never be available nor have the common courtesy to respond to numerous messages that have been left.

Do Not Recommend Candlewood Suites Abilene by IHG
I booked this hotel because it was right next door to where our band kids were staying. It was myself, my sister, and another band parent. I reserved a room with two queen beds, but when we checked in, the front desk didn’t mention anything — just handed us our key.
When we got to the room, surprise — it only had one king bed. We immediately went back to the front desk to let them know there was a mistake. They did try to find us a room with two beds, but the hotel was fully booked and couldn’t accommodate us. They didn’t even have a pullout couch or a rollaway bed available. Their only solution was to give us extra blankets, so one of us had to sleep on the floor.
The staff told us to check back in the morning and said that if they couldn’t move us, the manager would give us a discount for the inconvenience. The next morning, they still couldn’t find a room with two beds, so we had to stay another night in the same room — three ladies in a room with one bed, my sister slept on the floor again.
They reassured me once more that when the manager arrived Monday, she’d call and apply the discount since we were checking out Sunday to head back to El Paso. Monday morning came and went — no call. I finally called myself around noon (El Paso time), and when I spoke to the manager, she was extremely rude and dismissive. She told me I should have asked for a full refund the first night and gone somewhere else, and she constantly talked over me instead of listening or trying to help.
In the end, no discount, no apology, just attitude. I had to call corporate and file a complaint.
Hopefully, this saves someone else the time, money, and frustration. I do not recommend staying at Candlewood Suites Abilene — especially if you ever have to deal with that manager.

Disappointing Stay - Would Not Recommend
We recently stayed at Candlewood Suites Abilene for two nights while attending a band competition with our children. Unfortunately, the experience was less than satisfactory.
To start, we had booked a room with two queen-sized beds, but when we arrived, they changed our reservation and gave us a room with just one king-sized bed for three plus-size women. This forced one of us to sleep on the floor for the entire stay—definitely not the comfort we had expected or paid for.
Additionally, the shower in our room was broken. It sprayed water directly towards the wall, making it impossible to take a proper shower. To make matters worse, the room had an unpleasant smell that lingered throughout our stay.
We spoke to the hotel manager about these issues, but unfortunately, the response was dismissive and rude. The manager essentially told us there was nothing they could do, offering no resolution or even an apology. When I asked about a partial refund due to the inconveniences, she simply told me that we should have checked out earlier if we were unhappy, even though we were still being charged full price.
The only reason we stayed was because our children were next door at a neighboring hotel with the school marching band, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The lack of customer service and the overall poor quality of the room made for an unpleasant experience
