  I don’t know where to start. We booked with Candlewood and upon our check in, it took about 10 mins for anyone to come to the front desk. They charged us a $200 pet fee. When we walked into the room, we immediately noticed brown smears on all the walls. All the lamp shades were crooked, they also had a caked brown substance of on sorts around the lamp shade and on it. The carpet near the bath was completely torn up and frayed out like someone had been pulling the carpet apart. The bathroom had so much rust you would need a tetanus shot from just looking at it. The floors had so much stuff that needed to be vacuumed. My fiance and I didn’t even put our dog on the ground. We were in the room for a total of 5 mins trying to figure out where we could go and how to tell the front desk that the room is absolutely disgusting. We can’t get ahold of anyone for a refund. DO NOT stay at this hotel. I’ll definitely be calling some sort of department for health concerns. I wish I took pictures but I was so focused on getting out of there I didn’t even think to do it.

  Edited to add: Although we were told that IHG would have the manager reach out, no one has followed through. IHG does not stand behind their name and Candlewood Suites should be SHUT DOWN! I tried deleting my stars, but google requires me to add at least 1. Absolutely unacceptable experience at the Abilene location. We woke up at 3 AM to find 20+ roaches crawling all over the bathroom. It was horrifying. We brought a cup of them to the front desk, and while staff said we’d receive a follow-up call, we never heard anything back. Cleanliness is HORRID-- bare minimum expectation, and this stay completely failed. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

  Great location but never had house keeping in 10 days. Not a bad place to stay if you don’t mind roaches! Named 1 Arnold bc he was fast & will be back!

  This hotel is strait trash. Dirty silverware. Bathtub stains. Rust on air vents. Hotel smells. Mold everywhere. Lots of paint peeling. I have never stayed in a worse hotel. This is worse than motel 6. On top of all that elevators didn’t work

  Booked a room here for a 6 month stay in June of 2025. Stayed for a few months until the following happened. Negotiated a set price for my stay. Long story short they tried to raise my rates without informing me. Then these people booked another guest ON MY CREDIT ACCOUNT without my consent. They could not explain to me how this happened. Zero concern for your money. Zero concern for customer service. My credit card company coverd the unauthorized charges but I had to take time off from work to deal with this nonsense. No apology from them. Absolutely will not be staying here again.
