Several out of town family members reserved rooms at this hotel because it was conveniently located for a family event. I had a reservation for a two night stay. When I entered the room I thought it looked clean. The room seemed to be comfortable for one person, a King Size bed and a Chaise could actually accommodate three. The room had desk and office chair, a chest of drawers and a generous built in shelf for luggage lined one wall. Next to that was a closet that had a safe, iron and ironing board and six hangers. A large flat screen Samsung TV was mounted above the chest of drawers. In the entry way there was a cabinet with a coffee maker and a microwave oven and a small refrigerator. The bathroom seemed clean but a little outdated. The area under the counter was clean but looked dirty because a dark caulk was used between the floor tile and wall and at first glance it looked like mold. The bathtub was clean, very shiny like a refinished tub but the tub fixtures looked old with a worn finish. An 1800 watt hairdryer in a pouch was hanging from a hook at the back of the bathroom door. I brought my own so I didn’t try it. The room had plenty of outlets to handle everyone’s need to recharge their devices. Before I unpacked I closed the window shades. A room darkening shade was behind an opaque shade and they had been raised only 1/4 open. The next morning I tried to raise the shades higher but they wouldn’t budge past 1/4 open. But back to my initial impressions. I looked up at the dingy white popcorn ceiling and was distressed to see a bug on the ceiling. I couldn’t tell what kind of bug it was but bugs creep me out big time so I immediately called the front desk and asked the man to please send someone to remove it. He said there wasn’t any one to send. I asked him to come and he said he could not leave the desk. He said he was sorry but I would have to handle it. If I didn’t have family in other rooms, I would have asked for a refund and found other accommodations. I called my niece in the next room to say, “I’m here,” and “there’s some kind of bug on my ceiling, and the guy downstairs won’t come and get it.” She said her husband would be right there. Fortunately, he is tall and not bothered by bugs. He said it was a lady bug. Then he said, “Here’s another,” and “here’s three more.” He removed a total of 6 lady bugs or Japanese Beetles that night and one more lady bug two nights later. I did not sleep very well that night thinking there must be more unseen bugs in the room. The breakfast had the typical fare, pastries, muffins, bagels, cereals, small Omelettes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, and there was a pancake making machine, and two bottles of syrup. I can only review the things I tried. The small blueberry muffins were fresh. The pancakes were fun to watch being made as they slowly traveled along the conveyer belt then dropped off the belt and out of the machine. They were odd tasting, a little soggy and wet tasting and looked as if they were not quite done. Having just come out of the pancake machine they were not hot, barely warm and I wondered if they were even safe to eat. The kids enjoyed making them. You have to touch the word o.k. on the machine, and put a plate next to the open end of the machine. The front has glass windows so you can see the pancakes as they move along. The kids enjoyed making their pancakes but didn’t want to finish eating them. There is an indoor pool. We didn’t have time to use it. The cleaning people were friendly and greeted us in the hall. Would I recommend this Holiday Inn Express to friends and family? No, I think you can do better for a similar cost.

Overall, the place was very clean and well-kept. The only downside was that there was some water left in the bathtub, but everything else was spotless. The bedding smelled fresh, and it was a great place to stay with kids. Breakfast was satisfying, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location, could be a little cleaner, but overall nice place. Rooms were clean, elevator and hall floors were a little dirty. They did have a large wedding staying there, so maybe just had more foot traffic than normal.
