This is hands down the beat hotel in Harriman. We go to visit my friends up there a couple times a year, and have yet to have a bad experience. There is an indoor pool and workout room along with a pretty good breakfast. WARNING: do not book through a service. It is better to book strait from the hotels website.

In route to Atlanta we decided to stay here. Arriving around 5:00AM we were greeted with a sign on the front desk that stated "We are away from the desk assisting another guest" along with a small bell to ring. We didn't want to bother the employee since they were obviously already busy helping someone else - - so we waited and waited. Then we kind of peeked up and down the hallways. Then we finally rang the bell yet no one came. Although exhausted, we waited some more, looked up and down the hallways again, then rang the bell - - again. Suddenly, out from behind a closed door that lead to a pitch-dark room comes the front desk clerk - half awake. WTH? She told us we should have rung the bell and we told her we did - twice. She seemed a tad bit perturbed so we just let it go and decided to talk with the manager in the morning. When checking out, we spoke with Rosemary the General Manager - - - who was actually quite confrontational and even took things up to yet another level. When we mentioned we would be reaching out to IHG's corporate office (we're actually stockholders in IHG) she started babbling about how this location is independently owned. I explained to Rosemary that the building may be privately owned but that the company I own stock in, IGH, owns the Holiday Inn trademark and leases it to reputable hotels and owners. Besides, what kind of "assisting another customer" activity needs to occur in a dark room behind a closed door - - where no one hears a bell ringing that's only 30-feet away? Even as a stockholder in the parent company, we certainly won't ever stop at this location again.
