Only gave 1 star because 0 wasnt an option! Night clerk named "Karen" is rude and unprofessional. What a dump. Elevator broken, (not told until after we signed in ) room smelled and with half a parking lot full of cars she claimed that there were "No extra pillows in the whole hotel" 😑 Im a diamond rewards member so hear me when I say I know what a good Best Western hotel looks and acts like. This location under "Karen's rule" couldn't be any farther from that if it tried!! I will be filing a official complaint with customer service in the A.M. if im not compensated this will be the last Best Western I stay in.

Our stay at the SureStay Plus by Best Western Gatlinburg was mixed. The location is beautiful, and the room we ended up in was clean. However, there were several issues that made the stay less enjoyable.
The breakfast was disappointing — the food was bland, and items were not refilled in a timely manner, which made the overall experience feel poorly managed.
In our original room, we noticed mold on the ceiling. To their credit, the receptionist was helpful and immediately provided us with a new room, which we appreciated. Still, it’s clear that the hotel lacks proper maintenance and skilled workmanship in some areas.
While the surroundings are lovely, we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.
I stayed at the SureStay in Gatlinburg recently, and honestly, it was a pretty decent experience, especially considering the price point. I went in with realistic expectations, and the hotel hit pretty much exactly where I thought it would. It wasn’t the cleanest place in the world, but it was clean enough for what I paid. Nothing that made me uncomfortable or want to leave, just the kind of minor wear and tear you expect from an older budget hotel in a tourist heavy town.
The breakfast landed in the same category: not anything that’s going to change your life, but solid, warm, and totally fair for the room rate. It did its job, and I didn’t walk away hungry, so no complaints there.
Now, the real winner here and the part that honestly made any small issues feel unimportant was the balcony right over the river. That was the highlight of the entire stay. Sitting out there with the sound of the water rolling by was peaceful, relaxing, and honestly way nicer than what I expected from a budget hotel. It gave the whole place a cozy little charm that you can’t put a price on.
The location is another big plus. It’s on the edge of town closest to the national park, which is super convenient if you’re planning on doing any hiking or heading into the park. At the same time, it’s still within easy walking distance to all the main attractions, shops, and restaurants in the heart of Gatlinburg. You kind of get the best of both worlds. Quiet enough to feel removed from the chaos, but close enough that you don’t have to drive or deal with traffic every time you want to go somewhere.
Overall, I walked away happy with my stay. Sure, it had a few flaws, but nothing that overshadowed the value you get for the price. Between the location and that beautiful riverside balcony, I’d definitely be interested in staying here again the next time I’m in Gatlinburg.

Desk clerk/ receptionist when we arrived (noon Tuesday, Nov 12) was not friendly or helpful. She seemed more interested in personal phone calls. We asked if we could leave a suitcase until we could check in at 3 pm. She said no, that there was no place to leave a suitcase.
We travel extensively and cannot think of a case where we were not allowed to leave luggage until check in.
