Stopped at this Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Franklin, Tennessee (Berry Farms area) on our way north and found it to be a solid, dependable place to spend the night. One big plus right away is that access from the interstate is extremely easy, which makes it a very convenient stop if you’re traveling along I-65.
The hotel itself is also located in a very nice area, with the Berry Farms development nearby, so the surroundings feel clean, safe, and well maintained.
In fact, we realized during this stay that we’ve actually stayed at this location twice now, so there must be something about it that keeps drawing us back when we’re passing through the area.
The property itself is clean and modern, and getting to the room was easy thanks to two elevators that were both working and reasonably fast. One thing that stood out at this location is the gated parking garage underneath the hotel. It’s probably due to space constraints in the area, but it ends up being a real plus. The garage feels secure, and the elevator takes you right up to your floor.
They do seem to be a little short on luggage carts. We only saw two available, and there was actually someone waiting for us to finish unloading so he could grab one. Not a huge issue, but something the hotel might want to address.
The room layout was typical Holiday Inn Express, with a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee station right as you enter. There was also a closet with an iron, ironing board, and an in-room safe, which is always good to have available. Everything in the room was clean and well organized.
The bathroom had a walk-in, sliding glass door shower, which I prefer over the old tub setups. The water pressure was good, the water heated up quickly, and the shower area was spotless. One small but nice detail I noticed was that the mirror didn’t steam up, which was actually very convenient when getting ready.
One small annoyance came up around 4:00 in the morning when I discovered the tissue box in the room was empty. I later learned that the hotel does not keep extra supplies like tissues stocked in the rooms, but you can call the front desk and they will bring some up. The problem is that a guest would have no way of knowing that at 4:00 AM, so I ended up just doing without. In the future I’ll probably just make sure I have extra tissues with me.
The internet was also easy to establish and provided a solid connection, which is something that matters more and more when you’re traveling.
Breakfast the next morning was the usual Holiday Inn Express continental breakfast, which is perfectly fine for a road trip stop. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, and one of their cinnamon rolls. They also offered things like oatmeal and biscuits and gravy along with the typical breakfast items.
Overall, this was a clean, comfortable, and very convenient overnight stop, especially if you’re traveling through the Franklin area along I-65.
