Family's beware. If you have more than 2 children and enjoy being treated as a valued customer, with care, patience and compassion - go elsewhere!
I called front desk Dec 1st to book our Dec 19th 2 night stay for our family. We selected this hotel because it was locaed the closest to our relatives in Saskatoon. I first tried to book online but was blocked when I tried to enter more than 2 children in the portal. Thus, I called front desk, which was answered by a woman, and started "I tried to book online but I couldn't enter our number of children." So she began to take all the details. We have a newborn, a toddler and 3 older boys (oldest being 12). They only offer standard rooms with two queen beds so we planned to bring a playpen for baby and sleep with our other kids (very normal for our family). Details were taken and booked! Flash foward to a horrbile 6 hour drive through a blizzard with low visibility we arrive in freezing weather at 930pm to a front desk clerk who basically informs us that we need to buy a second room and split up our family because we are "too many guests" per their fire code. Obviously this was shocking, and upsetting but we didn't make a fuss (frankly we should have). I called my parents who then had to pick up two of our children because they permitted us to keep 3.... ICK. Very next morning our toddler, who is freshly 2 pulls the glass tray out of the microwave which is 1 foot off the ground, onto the tile floor and it of course smashes instantly. Partner calls down to front desk and the very first words "There's likely going to be a charge for that" ummm, yeah, I bet! We have GLASS ON THE FLOOR AND A TODDLER, with no broom or vacuum, thats the assistance we currently need, not to be told that there is a cost. Not to mention, you could ask if our toddler is okay? Housekeeping sweeps two swipes and leaves while we head for breakfast. We come back after.. still glass all under the corner of the cabinet, plus the bed frame. We did not have belongings everywhere either. We had a bare floor with glass on it and children in our room. My partner goes out to the hallway to ask housekeeping for a vacuum and is told "LATER, COFFEE". Need I say more?
Same morning, my dad brings my two children who were not permitted to stay with us to go swimming in the pool. He has a travel mug of coffee with him and his told he cannot be in there to supervise with his travel mug and has to leave.
This was just a very disappointing expereince for our family. If you have more than 2 children and enjoy being treated as a valued customer, with care, patience and compassion - go elsewhere!

Always a great experience but had a very rude interaction with staff in the pool area. Cranked on the jets without asking . And grabs my wife sealed refillable waterbottle and says rudely no outside water and takes it to the exit. Shocked at the Ineraction.

Spent 3 days there over christmas. It was great. Breakfast was far superior to what I expected. Lots of variety. I also loved the pool and spent a lot of time in it by myself because my adult daughter's I was traveling with are not swimmers. Room was clean and staff was great and helpful.

Our family experience at Best Western Plus Saskatoon East Side was disappointing from the very first interaction.
We’re a family of 7 and booked our room over the phone, clearly stating our family size. We were told it was fine, then upon arrival we were told they could not accommodate our family in one room “for safety reasons.” Our oldest child is 12 and our youngest is 4 months old, and being told it was safer to split up small kids into another room made no sense. Thankfully grandparents were able to help, but this should have been communicated before we arrived.
The next morning, our 2 year old opened the microwave (which was sitting almost on the floor) and the glass tray fell onto the tile and shattered. I called the front desk and the first response was “there will likely be a charge for that.” I understood that, but my priority was getting help to clean up broken glass around small children.
When staff came to clean it, they simply swept up the glass and left shards around the room. I went into the hallway to find someone to help vacuum properly, and the staff member didn’t understand what I was asking for. When I finally communicated it, I was told she was going on a coffee break and would come back after to handle it, while my 2 year old and 9 year old were still in the room.
Overall, not a family friendly or safety focused experience. If you’re visiting Saskatoon with kids, there are likely much better options.
