I had a great stay at Staybridge Suites, and one of the highlights was the evening happy hour. Craig, Brad, and Bridgette do an outstanding job hosting it and really make guests feel welcome. They are incredibly friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure everyone has what they need.
Their hospitality truly makes the experience feel more personal and enjoyable.
The happy hour itself is far more than just light snacks. There’s a fresh salad bar with several crisp toppings to choose from, along with a rotating appetizer. On the nights I attended, they served items like ham and cheese sliders, pizza, and even chili with chips and queso. It felt more like a casual dinner than a typical hotel happy hour.
They also offer tap beer and wine, which is a nice bonus after a long day of travel or work. The whole atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and it’s clear that Craig, Brad, and Bridgette take pride in making guests feel comfortable and taken care of.
If you’re staying at Staybridge Suites, definitely take advantage of the happy hour. The food is great, but the hospitality from the team running it is what really makes it stand out.
I was an extended-stay guest at this hotel secondary to a work assignment in the area, and I could not have been more pleased with the accommodations.
The room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Housekeeping offers a “freshen up” service throughout the week with a thorough clean weekly, and that worked perfectly for me. My room was always sparkling when I returned in the evening, and I had plenty of fresh towels, clean linens, and hot water! (Not all hotels can say this, especially when everyone is showering first thing in the morning, but the water always remained hot and the water pressure strong!) There is also a kitchen with a full-sized fridge, a cooktop, a dishwasher, and cooking utensils.
Breakfast was a pleasure. Instead of prepackaged options, there were fresh offerings daily—sometimes omelets, sometimes eggs, sometimes biscuits-and-gravy (my favorite!) plus fresh fruit and a variety of meat choices, cereals, waffles, etc. Hot coffee and hot water for tea or hot cocoa were always available (not just during breakfast,) and the extended hours (6:30-10) made it easy for me to sleep in a little on the weekends and still make it downstairs for a hot meal.
A Social Hour is offered three nights a week (5:30-7,) and it’s also impressive. There is a featured entrée, a salad bar, and your choice of wine, beer, or soft drinks. They change the menu enough that it’s never boring or predictable, and I appreciated this option on the nights when I just didn’t feel like going back out for dinner (or cooking in my room.)
I can’t say enough nice things about the staff overall. The dietary staff was friendly, kind, and accommodating; I looked forward to speaking with them every day. The front desk staff was consistently courteous and polite. Housekeeping, as I mentioned before, did a consistently great job.
When I had some downtime and could sightsee on the weekends, all the great attractions are less than an hour away from this prime location—Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, etc.
I did use the gym (especially the elliptical and the weights,) and I appreciated the variety of equipment offered despite its size. I didn’t get an opportunity to use the indoor pool or hot tub, but I noticed that the other guests who did seemed to have a fantastic time. There is also an outdoor patio/grill area, which I also didn’t use because the weather wasn’t conducive, but if ever I make it back to Rapid City, I hope that I can sit out there and enjoy everything the property has to offer.
Highly recommend!
