*** Update: Response to “owner” ***
It’s pretty amusing that I finally got a response to my email only after I left a Google review. Applying MY money that you took for a fee that should never have been charged? That's hardly the level of effort I expected. But maybe I’m just naïve for thinking I could get decent customer service and professionalism from Best Western.
Do yourself a favor and skip this place! The Hampton Inn just a few miles away is a far better choice!
I recently stayed at Best Western Pawleys Island for a funeral during a difficult time for our family. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory.
Upon our arrival, we were informed by Kim at the front desk that our reservation was incorrectly booked. Instead of assisting us, she was dismissive and rude, focusing solely on what she deemed our mistake, which was incredibly frustrating given our emotional state. When I pointed out multiple charges on my card, she brushed off my concerns and claimed they were pending refunds.
The condition of the hotel was also disappointing. The rooms were worn and outdated, and the carpet had an awful smell, which added to our discomfort during our stay.
I also sent an email to the property manager to express my concerns, but I received no response.
Later, Monta, the night auditor, was more helpful, and the next morning, manager Latoya was professional and apologetic, assuring me of a refund for the extra charge. However, we discovered that Kim had checked us out a day early, despite our request for a Sunday stay, adding to our frustration.
To top it off, after returning from a family function on Saturday, we were locked out of our room because the front desk had no record of our extended stay. It took several attempts to resolve the issue.
Overall, despite Latoya’s efforts, the service we received was disappointing. Unfortunately, due to these experiences, we won’t be returning to Best Western Pawleys Island in the future.
